About This Role

As an Energy Engineer I with NORESCO, you will have the ability to build upon your prior experience to:

  • Play a key role in performing energy audits (ASHRAE Level 1 through investment grade), for clients spanning all industries, including commercial, industrial, lab, pharmaceutical, healthcare, higher education, and municipal/county government sectors

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fine-tune a comprehensive understanding of common and complex building systems
  • Identify and strategically recommend new and innovative energy and carbon reducing measures to meet individual client’s goals and objectives
  • Inventory greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and establish energy and GHG baselines, compare to local and industry thresholds
  • Become proficient in performing calculations to quantify and report on annual energy/cost savings and GHG reductions
  • Develop budget quality project cost estimates
  • Utilize our vast array of calibrated testing equipment to perform hands-on retro-commissioning field-testing activities
  • Through this experience, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of system operating conditions while:
    • Developing decarbonization and electrification strategic plans and evaluating innovative technologies
    • Assessing renewable and energy efficiency solutions, including solar PV, wind, micro-cogeneration, geothermal, biomass, and thermal storage systems
    • Preparing clear, creative technical reports for diverse audiences
    • Strengthening your technical, communication, and leadership skills
    • Building effective and positive relationships both internally and across the industry

  • 25% travel, including same day visits to Client Sites

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience conducting Energy audits, including development of project cost estimates and annual energy/cost savings calculations
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Due to contractual requirements associated with this position, candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CEM/CEA/EBCP/CBCP from Association of Energy Engineers; ASHRAE Commissioning
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental or Facilities Engineering
  • Interest and excitement in the field of decarbonization, electrification and sustainability. 
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and business relationships
  • Retro-commissioning, commissioning, and technical feasibility study experience
  • Experience with operation and/or design and/or construction of HVAC systems, boilers and steam systems, chilled water plants and pumping systems, compressed air systems, electrical systems, cogeneration plants, and building controls/energy management systems
  • Experience with testing equipment (balometers, anemometers, ultrasonic flow meters, temperature loggers, electrical meters, and others) a plus
