Role Purpose
Built on Willis Carrier's invention of modern air conditioning in 1902, Carrier is a leading provider of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration systems, building controls and automation, and fire and security systems leading to safer, smarter, sustainable, and high-performance buildings. We constantly build upon our history of proven innovation with new products and services that improve global comfort and efficiency. Today, Carrier needs your talent to build upon this legacy and create solutions that matter for people and our planet!
We are seeking a motivated, results-oriented, and highly autonomous Senior Quality Engineer to join our team. Working as an individual contributor, you will leverage your advanced engineering knowledge to influence the development, modification, application, and maintenance of our quality evaluation systems, control protocols, and production lines.
Role Responsibilities
As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will balance technical office management with heavy line-side plant support to ensure product excellence. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Continuous Quality Improvement: Assume ownership of quality improvements as they relate to specific projects or production areas within the facility.
Process Automation & Project Leadership: Take leadership of critical modernization projects, such as researching automation vendors, managing budgets, and converting legacy paper tracking procedures into automated digital systems.
Root Cause Analysis & Troubleshooting: Apply hands-on technical troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude directly on the manufacturing floor to solve complex process and component nonconformities.
Risk Mitigation & Product Quality Planning: Utilize standard UPPAP/PPAP core elements including PFMEA, DFMEA, MSA, Process Flow, and Control Plans to identify risks and assure product reliability during development and manufacturing phases.
Warranty Analysis & Replicated Testing: Conduct hands-on forensic evaluations of field warranty returns to isolate failure modes. Oversee random monthly CSA certification testing on live equipment to replicate residential environmental failures and address systemic issues.
Calibration & QMS Systems Management: Manage oversight of digital calibration infrastructure systems monitoring tracking cadences, processing vendor purchase orders (POs), and standardizing tool calibration timelines.
Line-Side Plant Support & Auditing: Audit and review internal business procedures, process control documentation, and inspection of standard operating procedures against strict regulatory and contract requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner actively with business units, engineering specialists, and manufacturing teams to implement swift, actionable corrective items for identified deficiencies.
Work Environment & Schedule Expectations
This is a 100% on-site manufacturing role. Your time will typically fluctuate around a split of 30% in the office and 70% active on the factory floor providing direct, line-side support.
The position runs strictly on the first shift.
The baseline schedule operates on 4 ten-hour shifts (4x10). Working a 5th day occurs roughly 50% of the time.
Candidates must have the schedule flexibility to work up to 6 days a week as the plant enters peak "Furnace Season". The factory floor reserves the right to change scheduling demands up until Thursday at 2:00 PM to support production timelines.

Familiarity or exposure to digital tool calibration oversight, tracking schedules, and managing vendor purchase orders.
Prior experience working in HVAC manufacturing or related aerospace and automotive manufacturing environments.
Previous experience collaborating smoothly with an hourly union workforce within strict collective bargaining guidelines.
Proactive time management, strong attention to detail, high mechanical aptitude, and a self-driven motivation to independently manage projects from start to finish.
