External Description:
The Category Specialist is the regional execution arm for Mods & Upgrade procurement — turning category strategy into on-the-ground sourcing, purchase-order execution and clean supplier data, so that Mods projects receive the right 3rd-party equipment and parts on time and at target cost. The role reports to the Associate Director, Mods & Upgrade Procurement and partners closely with the Category Manager, Parts Supply, PDM and the factories.
Role Responsibilities:
Run sourcing events and RFQs in-region for assigned MAU categories — pumps, cooling towers, fans, valves, controls/BMS, electrical and balance-of-plant.
Actively manage supplier lead times to hit project schedules and golden slots.
Maintain supplier master and PFEP (Plan-For-Every-Part) data for assigned categories.
Procure Carrier-designed (OEM-common) parts and 3rd-party parts to BOM and AVL.
Support should-cost analysis with regional market inputs and surface savings opportunities.
Resolve supply escalations on long-lead / engineer-to-order (ETO) parts in partnership with Parts Supply.
Maintain data accuracy in SAP, KetteQ and SFDC; support OTIF and demand-accuracy reporting.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Engineering, or Business
5+ years in procurement, sourcing, buying, or materials planning.
5+ years' experience Hands-on purchase-order execution, RFQ management and supplier coordination.
5+ years' experience ERP proficiency (SAP); familiarity with planning tools (KetteQ / Kinaxis); strong Excel.
Preferred Requirements
HVAC, engineered equipment, aftermarket or capital-equipment exposure.
Experience with PFEP, should-cost, and AVL / BOM data; regional sourcing across CLT / SYR / MX.
Lean / Six Sigma exposure; Spanish language a plus for MX supplier coordination.
Excellent organization, follow-through and supplier communication.
