This position is responsible for troubleshooting, modifying, specifying and acquiring equipment and tooling in a fast-paced, high-volume assembly and manufacturing environment. Specifically , the engineer will contribute to all aspects of engineering related to printed circuit board assembly (PCBA). Equipment and processes supported include solder paste dispensing, pick and place machinery, reflow and wave soldering systems, conveyors and production test equipment. Development and improvement of processes related to PCB assembly and test; participating in manufacturability design reviews for new products. Utilize direct experience with mechanical and electronic systems and processes to identify and eliminate waste while improving productivity and quality. Specific knowledge of above equipment and processes is not required but preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Engineering -- Contributes to their team or department by applying their knowledge of PCB assembly process. This includes developing best practices along with researching and implementing new technologies to improve efficiency and quality
Quality Assurance -- Involvement with quality related items in relation to PCB assembly and Test processes. Utilize formal quality systems (Six Sigma/Lean/RRCA) to identify and eliminate waste while improving productivity, quality, and equipment uptime. Ability to use process data including test results and lab tests evaluate product and process quality.
Production Line Support – Responsible for ensuring continuous operations through preventative maintenance processes, equipment troubleshooting and repair, equipment and tool selection; creation and maintenance of operational and maintenance documents and training of production personnel. Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
Project Management— Responsible for multiple small projects at a time or leading of larger projects. This will include new product introductions and new equipment selection and commissioning.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Engineering
- 1+ years’ experience in an engineering role
- 1+ years’ experience in formal electronics training or demonstrated experience in basic circuit analysis and troubleshooting
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering/Electrical Engineering Technology
- 2+ years’ experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Experience with industrial controls, PLC’s, Automation and test equipment
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic controls
- Experience in Software development and software development tools.
Skills needed for success:
- Proficient in analyzing data to determine best course of action
- Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing knowledge
- Strong technical writing skills including process documentation and submitting proposals
- Knowledge Process Management, Project Management and Quality Assurance
- Strong computer and system skills, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to quickly learn engineering software suites used in include AutoCAD, test automation software and machine specific operation/programming software
- Ability to work with minimal guidance and direction
- Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships with production employees, peers and manufacturing management
- Energetic, hands-on; able to drive change and continuous improvement
