External Description:

Carrier is seeking a highly experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead manufacturing process development, continuous improvement initiatives, and production optimization efforts for manufacturing operations. This role will serve as a key technical resource supporting process capability improvements, equipment implementation, and quality enhancement initiatives. 

The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in ASME standards, manufacturing engineering principles, and design and production processes. This individual will collaborate cross-functionally with Design Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Maintenance teams to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing operations. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead manufacturing process development and optimization for production and assembly operations. 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust manufacturing processes to support safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. 

  • Provide technical leadership for capital equipment selection, installation, validation, and commissioning. 

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and root cause problem-solving methodologies. 

  • Evaluate and improve process capability, productivity, throughput, and manufacturing efficiency. 

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including process flow diagrams, work instructions, PFMEAs, control plans, and standard work. 

  • Support New Product Introduction ETO activities and ensure manufacturability of new designs. 

  • Collaborate with Product Engineering teams to resolve manufacturing and design-related issues. 

  • Ensure compliance with applicable ASME standards, engineering specifications, safety requirements, and industry regulations. 

  • Lead investigations and corrective actions for quality, reliability, and production issues. 

  • Perform equipment qualification, process validation, and statistical analysis to improve process performance. 

  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians while promoting engineering best practices. 

  • Support supplier development and qualification activities related to components and manufacturing processes. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or engineering field. 

  • Minimum 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a high-volume industrial manufacturing environment. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Strong knowledge of ASME codes and standards, including interpretation and application within manufacturing processes. 

  • Experience with manufacturing process development, machining, automated assembly, and production test systems. 

  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerancing, and specification control. 

  • Proficiency in root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies. 

  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC), process capability analysis, and quality systems. 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Experience with HVAC, refrigeration, or manufacturing operations. 

  • ASME certification, training, or extensive practical experience applying ASME standards. 

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification. 

  • Experience with welding, pressure vessel fabrication, brazing, and joining processes. 

  • Familiarity with automation, robotics, vision systems, and Industry 4.0 technologies. 

  • Knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and advanced quality tools. 

  • Experience with ERP and MES systems. 

  • Proficiency with CAD software and manufacturing simulation tools.
