External Description:

At Automated Logic, we've been developing and supporting intelligent building solutions that have helped customers, including small businesses to Fortune 500 corporations, operate their buildings more efficiently for over 40 years. Our products help reduce energy consumption, lower utility, operating and maintenance costs, and improve indoor air quality, occupant comfort, and productivity. Technology that supports the buildings and industry of today and tomorrow requires a wide range of talents and skill sets.

Role Purpose

We are seeking an energetic, proactive, and commercially driven BAS Construction Sales Representative to accelerate new business development across the greater Indianapolis market.

This is fundamentally a hunter role designed for a self-motivated BAS Construction Sales professional who thrives on outbound prospecting, tracking down opportunities, bidding on projects, and opening doors with new accounts. This territory requires someone who is hungry to build out market share from the ground up—targeting mechanical contractors, design engineers, facility owners, and commercial builders across Indianapolis.

You will bridge the gap between aggressive business development and consultative solution selling, partnering closely with our experienced local estimators, technical engineers, and operations teams to translate building automation capabilities into high-margin service contracts and system installations.

While this position is field-based relative to our main office, candidates must reside in or near Indianapolis, IN, to accommodate regular local client visits.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Proactively identify, prospect, and qualify new commercial accounts across the Indianapolis market through outbound outreach, networking, attending industry events, and responding to project bids.
  • Build strong commercial relationships with mechanical contractors, consulting engineers, building owners, and facility directors to secure Automated Logic as the preferred controls and service partner.
  • Convert new building automation installations and competitive takeovers into long-term planned service agreements, software analytics platforms, and preventative maintenance contracts.
  • Lead bids and proposals from initial discovery and job walks through estimating, technical presentation, negotiation, and closing.
  • Partner closely with internal engineering, ops, and senior sales colleagues on co-selling opportunities, joint bidding, and technical scoping.
  • Identify opportunities within growing accounts for retrofit modernizations, field sensor upgrades, and remote monitoring/analytics solutions.
  • Maintain disciplined CRM documentation (Salesforce), managing active leads, deal stages, and accurate weekly/monthly revenue forecasts.

  Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or completion of an accredited trade/technical school program
  • 1+ year of experience with HVAC Controls, Building Automation, Commercial HVAC, Blueprint Drawings/Design layouts, or the Construction industry.
  • Valid Driver’s License

  Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering
  • Proven sales or hands-on experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC controls, commercial construction, electrical, or plumbing trades.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, mechanical drawings, and system schematics.
  • Ability to convert complex technical features (e.g., BAS integration, air quality controls) into compelling financial and operational value propositions for clients.
  • Experience uncovering upsell opportunities for add-on solutions, including remote monitoring tools, software analytics platforms, and retrofits.
  • Proficiency using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) to track leads, manage recurring contract renewals, and maintain accurate revenue forecasts.
  • Skill in navigating long sales cycles, managing pricing discussions, and securing long-term service agreements with building owners and facility managers.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders, from C-suite executives to facility engineers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work alongside field technicians, project managers, and engineering teams to identify service leads and execute client handoffs.
  • Strong organizational skills to balance high-volume administrative contract tracking with proactive sales outreach and client visits.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to offer sponsorship for employment visa status for this position.
