About this role:
This position is for an attorney to support the field service businesses of the North America Commercial HVAC (“NACHVAC”) segment of Carrier and will be located in Charlotte, North Carolina. This position will report to the Director of Legal Affairs for the NACHVAC business, and under his supervision will provide direct legal counsel and guidance to the NACHVAC field service businesses, Carrier Commercial Service, Carrier Rentals, and Automated Logic Contracting Services, in addition to general legal support of other business units and functions within NACHVAC.
Key Responsibilities:
The primary focus of this role is to provide general business legal support with a focus on directly supporting the legal needs of the NACHVAC field service businesses, which sell and service HVAC equipment and controls across North America.
More specifically, the scope of the work will include, but not be limited to:
- Working with business leads and operations teams to resolve project disputes.
- Assisting with lien and bond filings/claims to protect business interests, including collection efforts.
- Providing legal advice and counsel to branch locations across North America on a wide range of issues for service organizations.
- Working with various functional groups including operations, IT, supply chain, marketing, sales, and human resources to negotiate and implement a variety of contracts and ensure contracts are following applicable Carrier policies.
- Supporting compliance with Carrier’s policies and processes, including training, communication, and advising the business teams on compliance requirements.
- Implementation of risk management controls and policies.
- Ensuring business contracts implement best practices.
- Interaction with senior business leaders and legal support of business teams’ strategic goals.
Required Qualifications:
- 3 + years of legal experience
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited US law school required
- Current admission to the U.S. state bar required
Basic Qualifications:
- Strong writing and communication/intrapersonal skills.
- 4-year college degree from an accredited university
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound business judgment.
- Ability to work on matters quickly and prioritize business needs with guidance from management.
- Must have a business-oriented, pragmatic approach to challenges that arise in a fast-paced environment.
