About this role

The Associate Director, Supplier Commodity Hedging will lead our organizations understanding, strategy, and risk management against commodity market volatility. This role will lead the development and execution activities with specific emphasis on risk management & commodity blocking/hedging of Copper and Aluminum.  In addition to basic execution activities, this roll will lead the strategic analysis to develop continuous improvement opportunities related to cost, quality, risk management & overall business relationships with our suppliers and blocking/hedging partners.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain blocking/hedging and risk management process/procedures while ensuring full organizational alignment on hedged positions with Finance, ensuring timely and accurate hedging positions for the decision-making and performance reporting.
  • Owner of all hedging and risk positions and monthly reconciliation process for assigned materials, suppliers, and partners, ensuring optimized position to support production requirements while minimizing working capital requirements.
  • Develop governance and creation of an Executive Blocking committee in accordance with our corporate governance procedures.
  • Drive improvements in forecast accuracy and finance-related management processes; collaborate with the planning and category commodity manager teams to improve the financial planning/forecasting of raw material inputs.
  • Develop and implement new tools to track and report hedging impacts, position reporting, and Key Performance Indicators
  • Provide daily / weekly / monthly update reports to colleagues and Operations leadership team with effective verbal and written communications.
  • Proactively evaluate, identify, and address opportunities with buyer activities and projects and collaboratively implement best practices.
  • Develop custom forecasting and trend models based on industry available data
  • Develop & manage relationships, capabilities & deliverables with all suppliers as well as hedging partners, while tracking and documenting performance with scorecard data.
  • Utilize creativity and innovation in approach toward day to day execution and continuous improvement, with key focus on tracking & reporting cost containment and hedging strategies
  • Establishes key metrics and develop / implement plans to achieve initiative targets & business objectives.
  • Monitor costs and resources to fulfill project / initiative requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years of experience for an industrial manufacturer in commodity markets such as Steel, Copper, or Aluminum, including finance experience with utilization of hedging instruments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Supply Chain Management
  • Category Management functional experience
  • Experience in HVAC industry or Whitegoods industry
  • Experienced at developing trend analysis, cost impact plans based upon market movement and scenario development
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Analytical, organizational, and communication skills are required
  • Detail oriented and ability to understand of financial flows and processes
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to influence across functions, all levels, and excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Demonstrated ability to analyze financial results and apply variance analysis effectively to explain impacts of commodity movement, hedging implications and overall connection to cost of goods sold and pricing decisions across multiple business units
