About this role

Kidde-Fenwal has an opportunity onsite at our Ashland, MA location for a Quality Inspector. Duties include conducting and monitoring inspections using established inspection methods, standards, procedures and sequences to ensure that quality standards are maintained. Provide guidance on the method and sequence to conduct inspections, maintains inspection logs, and document inspection results.   

Key Responsibilities

  • Use precision and hand-measuring equipment to perform inspections to engineering specifications and drawings, including First Article Inspections (FAIs) on assigned incoming materials
  • Maintain inspection reports and data records
  • Prepare required forms and reports i.e. corrective action reports, rejected material reports
  • Assist Quality Technicians and/or Engineers to develop or revise inspection procedures
  • Participate in Carrier Excellence Quality programs, i.e. Quality Clinic, ProCert, Lean, 5S, RRCA
  • Maintain customer and/or Supplier Quality history files
  • Move material as necessary in performance of duties
  • Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervisor
  • Keep work area and equipment in clean, safe and orderly condition
  • Follow established company rules and regulations
  • Maintain quality and safety standards

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED  
  • 2 plus years of experience in a receiving and/or in-process inspection

Preferred Qualifications

Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:

  • Associates Degree
  • ASQ-Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
  • Proficient in the use of mechanical measuring tools and GD&T applications
  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines, Micro Hites and Optical Comparators
  • Windows and Microsoft software programs
  • JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle or other ERP systems
  • Good English communication skills
  • Able to work as part of a team, and independently, under minimal or no supervision
