External Description:

Specific Functions/Essential Duties  

                                                 

  • Support metal working projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of machine functions, metal properties, and mathematics. 
     

  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers. 
     

  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as vertical and horizontal lathes, horizontal machining centers, broach, and balancer. 
     

  • Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools in order to perform precision machining operations 
     

  • Knowledge of G Code Programming to operate CNC machines. 
     

  • Ability to perform model changes which require aligning and set-up of fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, loading part programs and materials onto machines. 
     

  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process. 
     

  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerances. 
     

  • Check machinery to ensure that they are properly lubricated and cooled. 
     

  • Inspects product/samples for quality acceptance using proper inspection procedures, poka yokes and maintains logs, SPC forms, etc., as required.  Monitor and log data. Perform quality checks. Works within quality and quantity standards. 
     

  • Maintains work area housekeeping and assist in department/team housekeeping efforts. 

  • Reports unusual conditions, safety issues or defective material to a supervisor. Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies.  Works in a safe manner. 
     

  • Assists in training new employees. 
     

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement efforts that support department and plant goals. 
     

  • Performs work in a manner that supports our Quality systems (e.g., ISO, 9000, PED) and Environmental system (e.g., ISO 14000). 

Overtime work is necessary based on changes in business conditions.  Employees are expected to work a reasonable amount of overtime.  Employees are expected to fulfill scheduled overtime commitments unless there is advance supervisors’ approval.”

Requirements:  

  • 2-year experience in specialty equipment set up and operation 

  • Ability to read G code Programming 

  • Ability to single block and run-in new part programs to blue print tolerances. 

  • Proven strong ability to read blueprints and technical drawings 

  • Ability to work with measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers. 

  • Experience using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and machining centers 

  • The ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly during the shift; stand, bend, and twist for extended periods of time. 

  • Strong mechanical background with troubleshooting skills 

  • Strong communication skills 

  • Ability to work OT to include weekends 

  • Ensure proper inspection/quality checks are taking place per the control plans 

  • Keep all parts identified properly and organized in such a way as to avoid mixing 

  • Adhere to 5S Standards for work area organization and cleanliness 

  • Ensure efficient flow of processes and materials
