Director of Sales - North America Det-Tronics

This is a remote position located in the United States and Canada.

Carrier is a leading provider of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, building controls and automation, and fire and security systems leading to safer, smarter, sustainable, and high-performance buildings. Autronica and Det-Tronics, are two strong business units within the Carrier portfolio.  Our market focus includes the POG (Petrochemical, Oil & Gas) markets, both onshore and offshore, as well as many other industrial specialty hazard markets.  These two brands are collectively a $200 million business-- technologically innovative, global, and protect customers in many challenging environments with high end flame and gas detection products and systems. Both organizations are part of the Carrier’s Global Industrial Fire Products business and have a global reach with manufacturing sites in Norway, the U.S. and sales presence around the globe.

 

This position is responsible for leadership and growth of product and solution sales in North America in the Energy sector and other non-Energy market segments. Energy sectors include Petroleum Oil & Gas (POG) as well as clean energy sectors. Non-Energy markets include global commercial and military hangar business, munitions markets, as well as other vertical markets deemed viable by the business. In addition to expansion of new sales growth, existing customer base business growth is also critical in this business. 

 

Problem solving skills, strong analytical and logical thinking capabilities and excellent communication skills to develop plans and strategies to expand our global sales effort, and drive business growth and market expansion by developing new applications for current products will be key. 

This position will: 

 

  • Manage a regional team, as well as interface ongoing with other regions to ensure market penetration to accelerate growth  

  • Lead an organization of 10+ employees across U.S. and Canada. This will include direct sales, field service and support functions.  

  • Focus on timely orders forecasting / revenue, employee engagement, and process improvement 

  • Lead team to prospect, propose and sell standard product and custom control systems for fire and gas detection monitoring and alarm 

 

 

Job Responsibilities: 

 

Manage and set direction for the sales team and other support functions. 

  • Drive business growth and expansion into geographic and targeted vertical markets, working closely with regional sales managers, marketing and other internal stakeholders 

  • Support the execution of sales objectives to achieve KPIs, including sales reporting, analytics, pipeline management, and bid preparation in order to drive growth in identified markets 

  • Develop and maintain a strong relationship with strategic channel partners and end users jointly with RSM team members as well as influencers by reinforcing quality, continuous innovation and solution selling 

  • Provide industry and technology expertise to build support from stakeholders  

  • Explore applications of current products in emerging markets and find additional sales opportunities 

  • Create strategies that will help demonstrate value of the products in new markets  

  • Act as a trusted partner and advisor to drive technology initiatives and discussions for the vertical markets pursued 

  • Seek and work with 3rd party organizations for alliances to enhance Autronica and Det-Tronics standard product offerings and business growth 

  • Maintain sales status and data in CRM, and provide monthly reporting on activities and strategies to direct manager and other stakeholders 

  • Experience leading complex, matrixed organizations 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 10+ years of diversified sales experience in the Technology Field

  • 5+ years experience managing 10+ direct reports

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline

  • 15+ years of diversified sales experience in a technology field is preferred 
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and with business and operational performance measures 

  • Experience overseeing or leveraging technology 

  • Demonstrated ability to meet business and financial objectives 

  • Demonstrated team management, planning, and organizational, time management and communications skills.  

  • Ability to work quickly and accurately and handle multiple initiatives. 

  • Experience with Autronica and Det-Tronics products or related and system integration practices or related industry.

  • Demonstrates strong analytical and logical thinking skills  along with thorough judgement to make strategic decisions 

  • Ability to build relationships internally and externally 

  • Self-motivated with the ability to follow-up on issues and progress in order to meet leadership expectations 

  • Excellent written, verbal skills, and a passion for continuous improvement 

  • Capability to perform in a fast-paced and changing environment  

  • Experience working cooperatively and respectfully on multicultural/cross-functional teams 

  • Knowledge of how to present ideas and strategies clearly to diverse audiences, leadership, and decision makers  

  • Experience working on multiple projects while following up on issues and progress reports in order to drive projects to completion 

  • Comfortable and able to travel in order to meet business needs

  •  Strong organization and time management 

  • Can work creatively in an ambiguous environment 

  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM
