External Description:

This position is for a Lead Field Technician in Aftermarket and Service who is under minimal supervision. Installs, tests, services and repairs complex equipment to conform with company operating specifications and customer requirements. Leads lower level staff to maintain and analyze equipment logs to identify equipment repair needs and required repair methods. Relies on moderate to extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and understand project specifications and MEP drawing sets
  • Assist Project Engineers in creating equipment and floor plan graphics per project documents, graphics submittal packages as required, review graphics as a completed package for completeness and accuracy, develop and maintain the graphic library, and participate in the solution of job-related graphic problems
  • Complete each assigned project focusing on customer satisfaction and specification compliance while maintaining budgetary guidelines
  • Field Installation of Carrier I-Vu low voltage controls utilizing project specifications and MEP drawing sets, controls, and developing shop drawings.
  • Document and track project completion with as-built and final program notation with all field changes
  • Service, Troubleshoot, and Maintain existing Carrier I-Vu control systems
  • Commissioning/Start-up of controls systems, Test project programs to ensure specified sequences of operation are met and performed accordingly to customer and industry standards
  • Provide customer operator training on the Carrier I-Vu system following installation
  • Apply company standards and as required, customer standards for designing graphic function blocks for assigned projects
  • Design and maintenance of high-performance communication networks. BACnet, Ethernet and other communication protocols
  • Inspect HVAC system, including point-to-point, determining the proper operating ranges for field devices, as well as complete functional system checkouts
  • Read and understand project specifications and MEP drawing sets
  • Maintain facility building management systems to provide optimal IAQ control
  • Tests the system's programs to ensure they meet the specified sequences of operation and that they perform according to industry standards
  • Create site database utilizing company and customer standards
  • Conduct basic graphics engineering functions
  • Select materials, including DDC modules, field sensing and control devices, dampers, and valves to meet the repair and small controls retrofit/installation projects
  • Submit material order forms for all repair and small project required materials to the purchasing group, if required
  • Diagnose and repair the controls system issues at the direction of the service or project manager
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Work at various changing work areas, including elevated heights, on ladders/platforms

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ years’ experience in the HVAC Controls Industry
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the HVAC Controls Industry
  • Ability to communicate and resolve problems effectively. Excellent time management, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Field experience and an understanding of the installation and operation of Automated Logic Controls and ability to understand/navigate third party control systems and integrations.
  • Some experience with Automated Logic to include: WebCtrl, SiteBuilder, ViewBuilder, LogicBuilder, InterOp 3.02, Alert, Draw, EDB, Eikon, and Supervision.
  • Experience interacting with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of multiple disciplines.
