About this role

We seek a Staff Engineer to serve as a Laboratory Productivity Leader. The role will have responsibility for collaborating with engineering labs to identify ways to improve processes, align with other labs, and realize savings where possible via more efficient engineering laboratory operations. This leader is innovative, process-oriented, and driven, working with partners to capitalize on opportunities to drive efficiencies and effectiveness in the labs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a cross-business unit council of global laboratory contacts to share best practices, identify common opportunities for improvement, and foster a community of practice.
  • Consolidate capability and capacity expansions, capital requests and improvement project plan costs to maximize impact across global lab ecosystem.
  • Communicate to all levels of leadership, from operators to Senior Executives.
  • Create and deploy custom laboratory reporting and planning process.
  • Recommend, plan, and deploy improvements in process and spend using collecting internal customer feedback and industry best practices.
  • Respond quickly to shifting priorities.
  • Coach and guide engineering laboratory teams through ideation, savings quantification, prioritization, and execution of productivity opportunities.
  • Interface with multiple global engineering departments and gather specifications to provide quick solutions used in testing labs.
  • Investigate test software quality issues and proposes long-term solutions for software test tools.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Technology, or related discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or a relevant master’s degree is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with diverse audiences including cross functional team members, senior leaders, global suppliers, and internal laboratory managers and technicians.
  • Experience leading teams to resolve unusually complex problems (corporate, non-profit, or in community settings).
  • Business development experience and networking capability.
  • Strong team and interpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with ability to learn quickly.
  • Experience and ability to develop and execute consultative strategies that drive operational efficiencies.
  • Organized with strong attention to detail and proven problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership in engaging customers.
  • Proven development and execution of project goals to the established timeline.
  • Aptitude for leading teams through change.
  • Expert with Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, TEAMS, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to influence and work effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail while also able to manage multiple priorities and ambiguity.
  • Strong negotiation skills: ability to gain consensus and establish rapport with engineering teams.
  • Excellent project management skills and execution.
  • Interest in creating an innovative culture and approach to engineering productivity.
  • Lean background or expertise.
  • Five or more years of experience.
  • Preferred experience in the commercial refrigeration and/or HVAC markets.
  • Preferred experience in laboratory environments.
