External Description:

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess and maintain a valid and current Driver’s License
  • Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment more than 8 feet above grade
  • Capable of lifting items up to 50lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree, or Technical Degree
  • HVAC industry experience

Principal Responsibilities:

Year 1

  • Complete training requirements with focus on light commercial products and service
  • Graduate from Carrier’s 4-week Early Career Tradesman onboarding program
  • Relocate (as needed) to local field office for full-time employment
  • Formally join the local union within 6 months of hire date
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on light commercial products and systems
  • Actively participate in mentorship program with local mentor/coach
  • Complete Year 1 technical assessment with local Service Manager
  • Obtain OSHA 30 certification

Year 2

  • Complete training requirements with focus on complex applied products and service  
  • Participate in career path roadmap discussions and development
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on applied commercial products and systems
  • Complete Year 2 technical assessment with local Service Manager
  • Determine further career path interest to Carrier Operations & HR leadership

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to work alone and communicate effectively at all levels
  • Must have a good understanding of systems software to read, test, and make changes to logic
  • Able to download and troubleshoot basic HVAC system logic and associated software
  • Understand basic troubleshooting methods and practices in HVAC industry
  • Able to read and understand Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical blueprints
  • Basic experience with Microsoft software products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Possess computer and networking skills to properly maintain their laptops and mobile devices
  • Clear understanding of basic operation and control of mechanical equipment and sequences
  • Knowledge and application of preferred customer service expectation standards
