This position is for a Master Field Service Engineer in Aftermarket and Service who is under minimal supervision and works more independently. Conducts and/or oversees equipment inspection on a regular basis to ensure proper functioning. Responsible for calibration after installation of new construction. Solves highly complex problems and serves as a resource on varied tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the startup, commission, and re-commission of customer systems that utilize pneumatic / electrical / electronic technology
- Start up, commission, re-commission customer Building Automation Systems
- Provides solutions to very complex systems problems either troubleshooting the system or advising others on how to resolve problems. Works with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
- Be able to provide turnkey project delivery on medium to large projects, Complex AHUs (Multi-Zone/VFD/Mult-coil), Complex CW systems (Redundant/Pri-Sec Loops), Sequenced HW Systems with 3 or more boilers, Third Party Integration Expert.
- Complete all required commissioning documentation. Maintains accurate As-Built drawing package and makes changes in EDS, Visio, Excel, Word, as required.
- Completes paperwork on-time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reports
- Responsible for total system operation from controllers to sensors, loading software, interfacing with third party systems, Sets up trends, alarms and reports and works with customer IT personnel, etc.. Calibrates systems requiring basic electronic test equipment, such as multi-meters, network terminals and/ or a laptop computer.
- Performs static (stand-alone) and dynamic (total building interactive network) commissioning of software programming.
- Performs site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system.
- Responsible for set up of operator workstations with all associated software.
- Responsible for performing job database backups on a daily basis or as advised.
- Assists with turnover to service.
- Mentors and develops Field Engineers on field tools and technology. Serves as technical resource. Will likely assist sales in development of cost estimate on complex projects.
- Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Tracks and records job progress and keeps customer informed on progress. Reviews customer’s systems and, if needed, points out areas of improvement and scope issues to project manager. Keeps project management apprised of customer concerns and issues.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years’ experience in the HVAC Controls Industry or similar low voltage systems.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to travel in excess of 50% of typical workweek in the local service area.
- Ability to work overtime, occasional weekends and occasional overnight travel.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with leading a team of technicians.
- Ability to communicate and resolve problems effectively. Excellent time management, attention to detail, and follow-through.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Electronics, IT or Technical School in the HVAC industry.
- Field experience and an understanding of the installation and operation of Automated Logic Controls and ability to understand/navigate third party control systems and integrations.
- Some experience with Automated Logic to include: WebCtrl, SiteBuilder, ViewBuilder, LogicBuilder, InterOp 3.02, Alert, Draw, EDB, Eikon, and Supervision.
- Experience interacting with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of multiple disciplines.
