About this role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Category Leader who will be responsible for Carrier’s Global Field Service, Engineering & Factory Support Sourcing within Carrier’s Indirect supply chain organization. This Associate Director will be responsible for over $500M of global spend in field services, supplies, engineering (technical) and related factory support to include tooling, equipment, subcontracting, safety, supplies and solutions to improve field and factory productivity. The category leader will be responsible for all tactical and strategic sourcing support of these key commodities supporting our businesses.
The Category Leader will be the global leader who takes strategic ownership of the entire category and/or sub-category spend, developing strategies to drive the best pricing and commercial terms for our businesses. This role will lead total cost of ownership reduction including vendor management, demand management, and governance/compliance to deliver savings compared to the investment budget. The leader will work with the segment supply chain leaders and the operational leadership teams to coordinate sourcing efforts, drive RFQ process and supplier selection for assigned investment projects and execute sourcing initiatives.
This position will be located at one of the US Carrier offices and will manage several category managers.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a team of 4-6 individuals in Indirect Procurement across multiple countries.
Manage category leaders supporting supplies (MRO), Engineering, and Field Service
Carrier’s Supply Chain Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Field Services sourcing.
Reduce number of suppliers for field organization, leverage spend and optimize resources in the field.
Provide strategic leadership and commodity oversight to maximize business value and results within Field Services, Engineering and Supplies.
Oversee customer relationship management with Carrier BUs
Manage relationships with strategic Field Service, Supplies and Engineering Service providers.
Drive productivity within the assigned categories, execute on savings and cash targets.
Work directly with site operational leads to assist with managing risk and developing risk avoidance strategies in support of assigned categories.
Operational and spend analysis, development and execution of annual sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, supplier performance management & operational support globally.
Partners with internal clients and stakeholders to identify sourcing needs and improve sourcing strategy. Leading frequent meetings, project development, negotiation and execution are key deliverables.
Ensures supplier or commodities are performing to the designed requirements from delivery, quality, and cost perspective.
Promote best practices, measure, and track internal performance, monitor strategy implementation to ensure benefit realization within the assigned category spend, partnering for field services both within direct and indirect spend.
Lead complex commercial negotiations (pricing, payment terms, T&Cs etc.)
Work closely with Operations and Supply Chain to initiate, lead, and execute tendering process on all relevant projects as it pertains to assigned categories.
Oversee end-to-end Sourcing process: strategy, market analysis, negotiation process (RFXs), supplier selection and contract creation, and buy channel management.
Provide strategic leadership and commodity oversight to maximize business value and results.
Operational and spend analysis, development and execution of annual sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, supplier performance management & operational support.
Drive value through supplier relationship management and regular QBRs
Partners with internal clients and stakeholders to identify sourcing needs and improve sourcing strategy. Leading frequent meetings, project development, negotiation and execution are key deliverables.
Support acquisition, integration and divesture projects as required.
Drive adoption of Carrier’s Indirect processes, policies, and tools (Ariba)
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
10+ years’ experience in strategic sourcing of indirect commodities and supply chain management
7+ years’ leading cross-functional teams
International and domestic travel 15%
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing support of field services as well as key commodity support to both field and factory indirect spend
Proven ability to exercise independent business judgment to drive strategy and results.
Proven ability to lead global cross-functional teams to achieve results through leadership & influence
Ability to excel in a dynamic environment. Ability to lead analysis and resolution of complex problems where success requires the evaluation of both tangible and intangible variables.
Ability to travel internationally as required for due diligence, transition, and issue resolution
