About this role
The EH&S Manager is responsible for leadership support to oversee Kidde Fenwal’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) programs. You will manage/lead the EH&S function, and provide strategic direction, leadership, and technical support to advance EH&S programs with a primary focus on compliance with all local, state, federal, and Carrier EH&S-related requirements.
This position will require a highly energetic, self-driven, and dedicated EH&S professional with the ability to excel in a matrix environment whilst working in a fast-paced, team-based work environment. In addition, an understanding and sound knowledge of legal EH&S requirements, including OSHA/EPA requirements, is required.
The physical scope of this position will include the Ashland factory, offices, testing sites, and field services functions in the domestic US. Minimal travel (up to 10%) may be required.
This is an onsite role based in Ashland, MA.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and build partnerships at the Ashland site across all levels of the organization to foster and improve the EH&S culture
- Partner with site leadership and supervision to ensure EH&S regulatory compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations
- Guide employees to ensure adherence to company EH&S Procedures and Standard Practices
- Work on cross-functional projects that interface with groups, external and within the core EH&S team
- Provide timely risk assessments and adequate controls for EH&S processes
- Assist in identifying Health & Safety hazards, and development of controls to mitigate risks, i.e., ergonomic improvements
- Conduct EH&S audits, ensure audit compliance with internal policies/procedures and regulatory requirements
- Maintain and improve environmental regulatory compliance initiatives, and evaluate the effectiveness of EH&S programs
- Provide Corrective Actions with regard to findings and opportunities for improvement
- Manage worker’s compensation program, i.e., claims management and return-to-work coordination
- Provide timely information and guidance to the Site Leadership Team and Site EH&S Council, i.e., EH&S performance trends and root cause corrective actions for injuries and near misses
- Lead and instruct EH&S training courses and ensure all required training is completed timeously
- Determine and implement environmental sustainability initiatives to minimize water use, greenhouse gas generation, hazardous waste generation, and increase the recycling rate
- Manage overall EHS KPI’s with regard to Total Recordable Incident Rates, Near Misses, Green House Gas Reduction, Overall Waste Reduction, and all other required EHS KPI’s
Basic Qualifications
- BA or BS degree
- 5 years plus experience in environmental health and safety
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Corporate EH&S, manufacturing, warehouse, or research/development setting
- Enablon EMS
- Certification in Environmental, Safety or Health, or/and Risk Management i.e., CIH, CSP
- EH&S risk assessment, program evaluation, and auditing
- Knowledge/understanding/compliance with EH&S regulations, standard concepts, practices, and procedures
- Understand standard EH&S reporting methods and metrics
- Success in leading and implementing site and/or corporate EH&S programs and systems
- Cross-functional influence, lead project teams, ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Project management and analytical skills
- Effective written and verbal English communication and presentation skills
- Work with all levels of the organization and external agencies
- Influence and drive EH&S initiatives, work in a diverse, multicultural environment
