Carrier is seeking an experienced Product Management professional, to oversee research and analytics to support and contribute to the development of marketing strategies. Responsible for prioritizing projects and identifying opportunities for improvement to enhance Product Management performance.

About this role:

The Product Marketing Manager, Energy Solutions will be responsible for leading the strategic direction of market entrance strategies, and dealer and consumer incentive programs to help strengthen Carrier’s position in the Home Energy Management space.   This role will be responsible for developing revenue-generating strategies for both digital and physical product solutions.

This role will work regularly with our 3rd party partners, utility companies, channel managers, product managers, and digital product owners to ensure alignment and revenue-maximizing strategies.   This exciting opportunity will help launch Carrier into new markets and be integral in helping to shape the future direction of Home Energy Management at Carrier.   

This role will help lead the strategic alignment of the Home Energy Management space alongside the energy storage, control, and equipment product teams while working closely with sales, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, and sourcing to launch innovative products that meet customer and consumer needs.

The successful candidate will have an innovative customer-first mindset and be forward-thinking striving to meet the future needs of the market.  The candidate must have a balanced knowledge of marketing, business, innovation, and go-to-market strategy as well as be able to quickly learn and understand the technical aspects of DER (Distributed Energy Resource) products. Foundational skills for this role include an understanding of the energy markets, experience in developing go-to-market strategies, the ability to work cross-collaboratively across the organization, the ability to work independently with minimal oversight, and general business management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collects and analyzes macroeconomics, industry, and target market information to forecast market size.
  • Conducts competitive product and service analysis, and market research of product consumer behavior and professional audience to develop product requirements and specifications.
  • Coordinates or participates in promotional activities or trade shows, working with developers, advertisers, or production managers, to market products or services.
  • Identifies, develops, and implements near-term and mid-term business strategies relating to the development of new products, technologies, services, follow-on products, and/or industries to ensure profitability and positioning in the market.
  • Initiates and prioritizes projects, tracks product/service development and develops product/service launch plans to effectively manage a product or service category's life cycle and ensure profitability.
  • Develops strategic vision and market entrance strategies for Carrier in the Energy Solutions space.
  • Work with channel, sales, and marketing colleagues to define new go to market strategies in a multi-channel environment.
  • Differentiate and position Carrier in this emerging space to ensure customer value and optimize business return.
  • Evaluate potential markets through financial feasibility studies, market research, and planning.
  • Responsible for developing competitive incentive strategies for dealers and homeowners.
  • Works to develop strategic partnerships.
  • Works regularly with equipment, controls, and digital product managers to build a market-leading connected product portfolio.
  • Works with Carrier’s innovation team and leverages market research, competitive comparisons, and voice of customers to help drive technology development for the next 5 + years.
  • Clearly articulates Home e product features and value at speaking events such as with internal stakeholders, distributors, dealer, sales, and recruitment meetings.
  • Fosters cross-function integration with product platforms.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 + years of combined experience in product marketing, engineering, business development, marketing and/or energy

Preferred qualifications:

  • MA/MS degree with 5+ years of experience  
  • Experience with the development of digital tools
  • Experience with DER (Distributed Energy Resource)
  • Clear understanding of basic marketing and product development principles
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to handle multiple priorities.
  • Proven ability to execute with speed and exhibit a bias for action mindset.
  • Strong ability to work in diverse, cross functional project teams to achieve high levels of performance in a multifaceted, changing environment. Successful experience with collaborating in a matrix environment.
  • Background or experience in energy storage product management preferred.

  • Advanced level skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Preferred location Indianapolis
  • 25- 35 % travel required
