About this role

Carrier has an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to assume the Payroll Specialist role for Canada.  The opportunity to be part of a growing Shared Service Organization and develop global processes to sustain flexibility as the business needs change. Job responsibilities subject to change based upon alignment of processes within the organization.

Reporting to the Senior Payroll Manager, this position is responsible and accountable for providing payroll cycle processing for salaried and hourly union and non-union employees across all locations in Canada and is based out of our Mississauga location (3 days in office).

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for verification of data imported from Workday.
  • Manage data entry loads into the ADP GlobalView system in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Meet required timelines/deadlines for payroll processing.
  • Review the “preview” payroll reports of data information prior to the live production of the payroll.
  • Reconcile data errors and communicate / record corrective action.
  • Process payroll related activities, bi-weekly and month end, i.e., union due remittances, garnishments, family support, pension plan contributions, WCB remittances.
  • Process month-end activities in a timely accurate manner.
  • Respond to employee and management inquiries related to payroll.
  • Create and maintain payroll related processes and standard work documents.
  • Assist with balancing year-end payroll filings and year-end reports according to Federal and Provincial legislation and deadlines.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate degree
  • National Payroll Institute PCP designation or currently working towards it
  • 3 years plus of experience in a payroll position within a national organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • ADP GlobalView/SAP experience with knowledge of Workday and associated integrations
  • Progressive analytical skills
  • Advanced Excel and automation experience
  • Canada Federal and Provincial payroll legislation
  • Canada payroll tax and Canada pension & retirement programs
  • Work with sensitive and confidential data
  • Self-starter able to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Organization skills
  • English verbal and written communication skills
  • French language skills
