About the role:
We are searching for an experienced leader to join the Corporate Controller’s team as the Associate Director of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting. This position is a cross-functional leadership role responsible for oversight of Carrier’s SEC filings, complex technical accounting matters and adoption of new accounting pronouncements.
The successful candidate must be a strong, decisive, results-oriented person who can provide leadership within the SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting team and foster cross-functional partnerships. Strong management, verbal and written communication skills are required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Carrier’s SEC reporting function, taking responsibility for complete, accurate and timely filing of all applicable SEC reports in accordance with US GAAP
- Responsible for financial information presented in earnings release and presentations, ensuring consistency with SEC filings
- Assist legal department with Proxy, Annual Report and other periodic Form 8-K filings
- Research, evaluate and prepare technical accounting memos/whitepapers and external reporting implications of complex and non-standard transactions as well as general accounting matters
- Lead cross functional project teams to implement new accounting guidance, provide training and develop required disclosures as necessary
- Own and maintain Corporate Accounting policies
- Point of contact for internal and external auditors
- Lead or be strategic team member in a variety of special projects in support of senior management, compliance activities and M&A activities
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 5+ years of SEC reporting and technical accounting experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidate must have a strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
- Strong communication skills with the demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of staff and management
- Ability to work independently, self-starter, taking initiative for improvements
- Ability to handle confidential material related to company financial results and disseminate such information with appropriate discretion
- Strong attention to details
- Experience leading a team in a multinational organization a plus
- Use of HFM and Workiva software skills a plus
