About this role
Carrier’s facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, who manufactures residential and commercial gas furnaces, is recruiting for two (2) 2nd Shift Maintenance Technicians (Industrial) to join the Manufacturing Engineering team.
The 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician (Industrial) is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and reliability of machinery and equipment throughout the facility. Working under general supervision, this role involves modifying, fabricating, setting up, adjusting, and repairing a wide variety of mechanical systems. The 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician (Industrial) is expected to complete the troubleshooting and repairs of industrial machines and equipment from start to finish, while accurately interpreting blueprints and written specifications. Proficiency in operating machine tools such as lathes is essential, along with the skilled use of machinist hand tools including scrapers, chisels, files, and precision measuring instruments. Additionally, the 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician (Industrial) performs preventive maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime and maintain a safe working environment.
These are onsite roles in Indianapolis.

Key Responsibilities
- Keep the machines and equipment in efficient operating conditions
- Inspect machines and perform preventive maintenance
- Dismantle, move and repair industrial machinery and equipment
- Conduct modification, fabrication, and installation of industrial machinery and equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning industrial machinery and equipment
- Follow site safety rules and processes i.e., in the associate handbook, cardinal rule cards, job specific standard work and relevant EHS training documents
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current journeyman's card for machine repair OR successfully completed a Skilled Trades Apprenticeship Program for machine repair OR successfully complete (80% or higher) the applicable Industrial Assessment Test
- 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance
- Able and willing to join the local union
- Willing and able to complete the Carrier safety programs successfully
Preferred Qualifications
- Work from defined drawings and specifications
- Understand and use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments
- Demonstrated ability to perform operations involving use of industrial machine tools
- Use shop mathematics and handbook formulas
- Capable of performing physically demanding tasks throughout the entire shift
