About this role:
Carrier’s North America Field Business is seeking a North America EHS Operational Excellence Leader to be responsible for planning, development and overseeing the North America Field EHS programs and systems to drive standardization, efficiency, and effectiveness. The position will create business value through driving breakthrough and sustainable EHS solutions to protect our People, our Stakeholders, and our Environment.
This role will be responsible to work with the NA Field Leadership, Operations and EHS teams to develop, support the standardization of EHS programs and systems, ensuring the consistent implementation of the North America EHS Management System and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Carrier standards. This position will also manage the NA Field EHS Data Management Systems, EHS Training Program, and will partner with the Business EHS Leaders to standardize across the organization with a focus on continuous improvement.
This fully remote position (U.S.-based) will play a critical role in shaping and executing EHS strategy, ensuring compliance with local regulations and corporate standards, and driving continuous improvement across a diverse and distributed workforce
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Operational Excellence for NA Field EHS through standard work, problem solving, and action planning
Manage standardization of North America Field EHS Management System
Active participation in North America EHS Field leadership and EHS Oversight Committee activities, driving results at all levels.
Maintain and improve digital EHS systems to drive effectiveness and efficiency of the field EHS program implementation in partnership with the Central EHS Team and Regional counterparts.
Maintain and develop North America Field EHS SharePoint and overall recordkeeping system to drive efficiency of processes and overall compliance.
Define and manage field EHS communication and training plan. Partner with the Central Team, EHS and Ops to develop consistent EHS program implementation plans and strategy.
Lead continual improvement activities to reduce operational risk, partnering with the regional EHS and Operations teams. Focus on implementing standard work, problem solving and action planning
Development and management of field risk assessment inventories and legal registers, ensuring new emerging risks are appropriately reviewed and hazards controlled in partnership with the Business Teams.
Partner with the Business to standardize the customer prequalification program.
Lead and Track Read Across Programs to assess and implement global actions from lessons learned.
Ensure that the North America Field EHS Management System is in compliance with Carrier EHS standards, legal requirements and recognized industry standards.
Support audits of the implementation of the EHS management system within the field, in partnership with the Central EHS Team.
Monitor and analyze EHS performance, ensure standard reporting is delivered & accurate. Utilize problem solving areas for improvement and define actions plans.
Partner with other Carrier regions and the Central EHS Team as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
7+ year’s environmental health and safety management experience at a site or field/construction location.
50% travel
Preferred Qualifications
Recognized Certification in Environmental, Safety or Health, Risk Management such as CIH, CSP, etc.
Previous experience in field service / construction site safety management.
Strong computer experience in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word) and EHS related data management systems (i.e., Enablon, eCompliance).
SharePoint development and management experience.
Ability to develop training content and deliver in-person and digitally.
Demonstrated success in leading, motivating, engaging, and influencing others.
Demonstrated ability to research regulations, develop a program and successfully operationalize within a business.
Demonstrated ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
