    About This Role

    This position is for a Plant Maintenance Technician at a Central Utility Plant (CUP) providing utilities to a large manufacturing complex near Spartanburg, SC. Performs on-site preventative maintenance, routine repair, and oversight of subcontractors. Responsible for analyzing plant conditions and operator readings to determine equipment repair needs. Would use the plant computerized maintenance system (CMMS) to identify required maintenance and document repairs.

    The plant consists of boilers, air compressors, pumps, industrial chillers, reverse osmosis water treatment plant, boiler water treatment plant, and associated controls that provide continuous, reliable utilities to a host.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Maintain a safe work environment by complying with all safety and environmental procedures at the facility.
    • Work closely with Operations to monitor plant conditions and anticipate required maintenance.
    • Start/Stop equipment with Operations to complete post maintenance testing.
    • Maintain utility plant equipment including pumps, valves, boilers, air compressors, chillers, chemical dosing systems, and water purification systems.
    • Maintaining chemical and parts inventories and recommend ordering needs.
    • Respond to the site during off shift hours as necessary to restore plant system availability.
    • Perform plant inspections, maintenance, and document plant conditions.
    • Perform planned/preventative equipment maintenance.
    • Perform emergent/corrective equipment maintenance.
    • Proactively identify and address leading indicators of potential equipment failures.
    • Create and update work orders in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
    • Maintain NORESCO’s on site tool inventory and spare parts inventory.
    • Interface with customers and subcontractors as assigned.
    • Maintain good customer relations.
    • Maintain tools, maintenance areas, and equipment clean and orderly.
    • Read and maintain service reports from vendors to ensure compliance with Long Term Service Agreements.

    Required Qualifications:

    • 4+ Years of maintenance or operations experience in an industrial or military setting
    • 2+ years of experience with boilers, chillers, pumps, air compressors, or water treatment facilities.
    • High school diploma or GED
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
    • Comfortable working on ladders, manlifts and elevated platforms.
    • Must pass drug testing, background checks, security checks.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Excellent mechanical aptitude (ability to troubleshoot, restore, and maintain a wide variety of equipment)
    • Practical knowledge of basic mechanical equipment.
    • Familiarity with safety related programs (LOTO, HAZMAT/HAZWASTE, PPE, …)
    • Be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
    • Ability to follow directions, accomplish work with limited supervision, and then update supervisor.
    • OSHA 10 certification or ability to earn certification within one year after hiring.
    • Desire to cross train and become qualified to operate the facility.
    • Experience with critical plant utilities that require a high degree of reliability.
    • Piping repair and basic welding experience.
    • Navy or other military experience in propulsion or power systems.
    • South Carolina Waste Water Level D or above license.
    • Familiarity with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (Mainsaver, Maximo or similar).

    Other Job Details

    • Technician will report to the site Plant Manager.
    • Equipment specific training will be provided.
    • CMMS specific training will be provided.
    • Travel not expected.
    • Normal 40-hour work week (generally day shift) and occasional overtime will be required.
    • Additional overtime would be available when qualified as a plant operator.
