About This Role

The candidate will develop new HVAC products that meet future environmental regulations and implement next generation technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience with design and development of residential heating and cooling products (Split Systems and/or Packaged Units). The candidate will collaborate with product development engineers, test lab technicians, model/prototype makers, and designers in a team environment. Effective interfacing with other functional groups such as Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing and suppliers is necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use existing vapor compression modeling systems to model and validate new product designs.

  • Coordinate prototype builds and verification testing of new designs in psychrometric rooms.

  • Collaborate with designers to specify new components/parts and review bill of materials, taking into consideration feedback from manufacturing, marketing, quality, and service parts in the final design.

  • Support gated reviews, contributing to the presentation in both providing material and conveying the material verbally.

  • Take on ad-hoc assignments as needed.

  • Responsible for several components of a project or a complex component of a larger project.

  • Contributes to the team or department by applying knowledge of one or more functional areas, such as, vapor compression design, blower system design, combustion system design, etc.


Required Qualifications:
 

  • The ideal candidate Must have one of the following:

    • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years’ experience

    • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and graduate research related to vapor compression systems.

  • Must have a minimum of 2 semesters of thermodynamics, 1 semester of heat transfer, and 1 semester of fluid mechanics.

  • 1+ years of experience with model-based design processes, such as CFD, FEA, etc. (including college and/or internships).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer design experience with vapor compression systems (Air conditioners, heat pumps, refrigerators, dehumidifiers, automotive air conditioning, etc.).

  • Self-starter with ability to learn quickly and work independently with limited supervision.

  • Proven ability to implement continuous improvements and standardize process.

  • Experience working in a team environment within (Design Services, Test Labs, and Model Shop) and outside of functional support groups (Product Quality, Supplier Quality, Marketing, Manufacturing, Sourcing).

  • Intermediate level skills with Microsoft; Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with a diverse audience.

  • Organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities.
