Position Summary 

Each day, our engineering team works to meet unique and exciting global challenges. To maintain our role as a leader in the HVAC industry, we are seeking a talented, ambitious Cooling Lab Technician to join our team in Indianapolis. If you are looking for an opportunity to apply your technical expertise in a stable, second-shift role within a collaborative laboratory environment, this is the position for you.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • System Setup: Set up and instrument split systems in psychrometric and/or sound & vibration rooms.  

  • Unit Modification: Modify and fabricate test units and test setups as directed by responsible engineers or master technicians.  

  • Testing & Monitoring: Monitor active tests approximately 60% of the time via specialized lab software and computer systems.  

  • Hands-on Labor: Perform mechanical installation and hands-on laboratory work approximately 40% of the time 

  • Inventory & Execution: Aid in managing various inventories and fill in for senior project technicians as needed to execute critical test plans. 

Level of Responsibilities 

  • Under moderate supervision, performs varied tasks of intermediate complexity.  

  • Applies intermediate and some advanced skills to perform the position within the assigned area. 

  • Resolves most questions and problems, referring only the most complex issues to higher levels.  

Shift & Schedule 

  • Hours: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM.  

  • Days: Monday through Friday.  

  • Location: 100% On-site in Indianapolis.  

 

Required Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma or GED  

  • 2+ years of experience in HVAC Technology , Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Building Automation/Controls, Electrical or Electromechanical Technology, or a similar technical discipline.  

 

Preferred Skills  

  • Strong working knowledge of and the ability to troubleshoot HVAC systems.  

  • Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel for data tracking.  

  • Experience using basic hand tools, reading wiring diagrams, and using a Volt/Ohm meter.  

  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and data systems.  

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a "team-ish" setting; we value personality and cultural fit as much as technical skill set.  

  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and the capacity to self-direct.
