Strategy and M&A Senior Manager, CHVAC Americas
Job Number: 10947
External Description:
About the Role
As Strategy and M&A Senior Manager for CHVAC Americas — Software & Controls Solutions (SCS) — you'll help shape the strategic growth agenda for one of Carrier's most important commercial HVAC platforms. Sitting within Climate Solutions Americas Strategy, M&A and Integration, you'll partner with business leaders across SCS and adjacent growth areas to identify where Carrier should invest, acquire, partner, and transform to win.
This is a high-visibility role for a strategic operator and deal leader who can move seamlessly from market-backed strategy to valuation, diligence, executive communication, and post-close value realization. You'll build an inorganic growth pipeline, develop business cases, support acquisition/partnership execution, and translate long-range CHVAC priorities into actionable initiatives. Ideal candidates combine strong financial/analytical capability with practical understanding of industrial markets, controls platforms, field service models, and channel-led go-to-market execution.
This position follows a hybrid schedule, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote per week
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning and inorganic growth initiatives across SCS, translating priorities into market maps, investment themes, acquisition theses, and execution roadmaps
- Identify, screen, and qualify M&A targets and strategic partners in building automation/controls and adjacent industrial technologies
- Develop investment rationales, business cases, valuation models, synergy cases, and risk assessments for leadership decision-making
- Lead/support end-to-end M&A workstreams — target outreach, NDAs, financial analysis, IOI/LOI prep, diligence coordination, management presentations, and closing — alongside Corp Dev, Finance, Legal, Tax, HR, and IT
- Connect M&A activity to strategic priorities: aftermarket expansion, controls growth, integrated equipment + controls + service solutions, data center growth, and go-to-market transformation
- Synthesize market intelligence, competitive dynamics, and technology trends into clear strategic recommendations
- Support post-close value realization: deal theses, synergy tracking, Day 1 priorities, and integration hand-offs
- Build relationships with bankers, brokers, owners, and partners to expand Carrier's deal pipeline
- Prepare executive communications, investment committee materials, and board-ready presentations
- Guide analysts and cross-functional teams through research, valuation, diligence, and integration planning
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, and/or Business
- 8 + years in corporate strategy, M&A, corporate development, investment banking, private equity, management consulting, business development, and/or strategic planning, with experience supporting transactions from thesis through execution
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Experience in industrial manufacturing and/or industrial controls (equipment, automation, building technologies, field service, industrial distribution, engineered products)
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills: DCF, comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, synergy modeling, scenario analysis
- Ability to assess strategic fit, competitive position, operating model, channel structure, margins, growth drivers, and integration complexity
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders without direct authority
- Excellent executive communication skills — able to convert complex analysis into crisp, decision-ready materials
- Strong project management discipline and ability to manage multiple priorities under time pressure
- Ability to travel for target meetings, site visits, diligence, and integration planning
- Direct experience in commercial HVAC, BAS/DDC controls, industrial automation, energy services, or mechanical contracting
- Experience with post-merger integration, synergy tracking, value creation, carve-outs, or joint ventures
- Familiarity with CHVAC customer segments (data centers, healthcare, education, industrial, government, commercial office)
- Experience with tools such as SAP, Salesforce, Power BI, Datasite, Intralinks, Cyndx, or Asana
- Comfort operating in an engineering-, product-, and channel-led organization
