About this role:
The Automation Engineer designs, implements, and maintains the automated and control systems at a Carrier manufacturing facility, driving advanced, smart-manufacturing capabilities. This hands-on role integrates equipment, robotics, and control systems into the operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Designs, programs and implements automation and control systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA, robotics, vision).
Supports the implementation, integration, and fine-tuning of automated equipment.
Develops automation projects to improve productivity, quality, and ergonomics.
Diagnoses and resolves faults in control and automation systems.
Partners with Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance on equipment upgrades.
Documents standards, programs, and procedures for automated systems.
Supports Industry 4.0 / smart-factory data connectivity initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
3+ years of experience supporting automated manufacturing systems and production line optimization.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics or Control Engineering.
Knowledge of machine vision and Industry 4.0 / IIoT/ Smart Factory and digital manufacturing.
Programming across multiple platforms (Siemens, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Fanuc, KUKA).
Hands-on programming and troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA and industrial networks.
Hands-on experience owning the integration, implementation, and scaling of robotics and advanced automated equipment.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs and mechanical drawings.
Working knowledge of machine safety standards and safe equipment implementation practices.
