About this role:
The Production Manager leads the daily execution of the manufacturing plan at a Carrier manufacturing facility. This role is accountable for running multiple production lines safely and efficiently, delivering on daily output, quality and cost targets while developing supervisors and the front-line workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
Directs daily production across assigned lines, meeting the build schedule and EH&S, quality, delivery and cost KPIs.
Leads, coaches and manages the performance of production supervisors and hourly team members.
Owns productivity, OEE, labor efficiency and manufacturing cost control.
Drives continuous-improvement and structured problem-solving (8D, root-cause analysis) on the floor.
Partners with Materials and Quality to ensure resource availability and quick resolution of deviations.
Enforces standard work, 5S, layered process audits and operational discipline.
Supports hiring, onboarding and training to meet operational needs.
Leads daily tiered management and escalations to sustain performance.
Set daily direction, manage performance, and ensure adherence to standard work.
Foster an inclusive environment that promotes safety, collaboration, engagement, and continuous learning.
Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to implement process improvements that reduce cycle time and eliminate waste.
Partner with quality leadership to proactively address defects, reduce rework, and elevate first-pass yield.
Escalate systemic issues with appropriate urgency and help develop long-term corrective actions.
Own daily tier meetings and provide clear communication of performance, priorities, and escalation needs.
Monitor and report on KPIs including labor efficiency, productivity, safety incidents, scrap/rework, on-time delivery, and cost per unit.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
5+ years of manufacturing experience, including 2+ years directly managing production supervisors and hourly teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management or a related field.
Proven track record delivering daily build plans while meeting EH&S, quality, delivery and cost KPIs.
Solid working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, standard work, 5S and layered process audits.
Experience with structured problem-solving (8D, root-cause analysis) on the production floor.
Demonstrated ability to lead large hourly workforces across multiple shifts, including staffing, onboarding and performance management.
Strong knowledge of production KPIs (OEE, labor efficiency, throughput, cost-per-unit).
Experience in complex or fast-paced manufacturing environments.
Lean / Six Sigma certification.
