About this role:

The Buyer manages sourcing and purchasing for assigned commodities and services, securing materials at the best total cost while ensuring supply continuity. This role negotiates with suppliers, manages purchase orders and partners with Planning and Quality to resolve supply issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manages purchasing for assigned materials, components and services.
• Negotiates pricing, terms, contracts and lead times with suppliers.
• Places and manages purchase orders and monitors supplier delivery performance.
• Identifies and executes cost-savings and supplier-development opportunities.
• Partners with Planning to resolve shortages and with Quality on supplier non-conformances.
• Maintains accurate purchasing data and parameters in the ERP.
• Ensures compliance with Carrier's sourcing policies and trade requirements.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree.
• 5+ years of purchasing/procurement experience.
• Experience negotiating supplier pricing, terms, and contracts.
• Experience managing purchase orders, supplier performance tracking, and maintaining accurate data within an ERP system. 
• Experience conducting cost driver analysis and identifying cost-reduction opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with manufacturing/direct-material procurement.
• Proficiency in SAP ERP.
• Experience with engineering change management across engineering, manufacturing, and external suppliers to ensure timely implementation.
• Working knowledge of U.S. trade compliance and USMCA sourcing rules.
• Professional procurement or supply chain certification (e.g., CPSM, APICS/ASCM CPIM, or CSCP).
