About this role

The Category Program Leader, Compressors is recognized as a functional expert in communication, development, and execution of key programs. Implements critical sourcing strategies and networks in support of supply chain strategy. Directs supplier selections, negotiations, and contract administration. Develops strategies to continuously improve and re-evaluate the purchasing activities of the organization. Works cross-functionality to ensure deliverables are met and obstacles overcome

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicating to suppliers and internal customers clearly, addressing their concerns and resolving any conflicts that arise 

  • Leading key supplier programs for delivering productivity and overall resiliency,  

  • Preparing and presenting business cases and project updates to the company’s management

  • Cross-functional engagement internally for coordinating actions and deliverables to meet business critical timelines.

  • Negotiating and closing business contracts and contract disputes tied to identified programs

  • Executing category strategies and strategic projects aligned to the Category Manager’s vision

  • Managing/Monitoring supplier costs, and negotiating new terms if necessary

  • Incorporating feedback from internal customers to ensure they are satisfied with the supplier’s performance

  • Ensuring suppliers meet business needs on NPD and sustaining programs

  • Contributing information to category strategies by assessing current supplier performance, monitoring competitive products, and assessing needs

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5+ years of mechanical or component category management experience

  • 2+ years of supply chain project/program management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • MA/MS degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field

  • Moderate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to understand information, develop insights and identify opportunities when analyzing large data sets

  • Ability to translate findings and recommendations into concise and effective story telling

  • Ability to confidently present insights, opportunities and recommendations to internal stakeholders in a persuasive manner

  • Cross-functional agility, and ability to independently lead and meet objectives in a fast paced, constantly evolving environment

  • Critical thinking and forward looking vision and anticipation of future needs

  • Able to read and understand contracts

  • Strong people influencer

  • Ability to cultivate teamwork and align objectives across diverse groups

  • Strong verbal and written communication skilled to operate at a strategic and tactical level

  • Self-starter and takes initiative with an entrepreneurial spirit, as part of a team

  • Supply chain, supplier management, and negotiation skills
