The North American Truck Trailer (NATT) Associate Director Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading and developing supply chain activities for our NATT Supply Chain team, including negotiations, contract and project management, spend analysis and cost reduction, sourcing, and continuous improvement initiatives through total cost of ownership. They will effectively develop, coach and mentor his/her direct reports. This role will also partner with our Strategic Sourcing teams on Carrier and/or Refrigeration level supplier initiatives. In addition, this role will partner with the operations teams to create a robust supplier network to support their build plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development; implementation and alignment of sourcing strategies and supplier network capabilities for spend categories to achieve business objectives. Responsible for securing materials at the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) through competitive analysis of bids, and all other costs of ownership. Responsible for establishing risk mitigation strategies to minimize concerns with materials, delivery or supplier relationships.
- Develop annual cost savings programs and implement strategies that directly effects company financial results. Create, advocate, lead and implement sourcing, product redesign, and negotiation strategies for key spend areas to achieve short and long term savings targets. Manages areas of responsibility while driving continuous improvement and develop and implement protocols and practices to ensure effectiveness and efficiencies of strategic initiatives. Mitigates costs increases with creative solutions based on supply chain leveraging, manufacturing changes, vendor shifts, and cost engineering.
- Responsible for effectively negotiating with suppliers and coaching others to do the same. Govern the development and execution of contracts and agreements, with suppliers. Contractually securing materials and/or services within spending authority guidelines.
- Responsible for setting and delivering budgeted plans for all direct and indirect items identified within the scope of the role, and report monthly on KPI performance.
- Select, maintain and manage a supplier base that is financially sound, technically competent, and strategically aligned, including supplier performance standards and measurements. Evaluate supplier capabilities and establish sources for new technologies and new markets dictated by business requirements. Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base issues to mitigate issues to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and exploit emerging opportunities that benefit Wells.
- May be responsible for the developing personnel to include partnering with employees to develop and execute Performance Development Plans, attainment of professional goals and access to appropriate formal and informal learning experiences.
- Working with the New Product Development Purchasing team, ensure early supplier engagement in the areas of material selection and specification development and facilitating technical and commercial communication between suppliers and project team to improve quality, time to market.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7 years’ experience in sourcing/supply chain/operational leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in purchasing, supply chain, engineering, materials management preferred or related field.
- Experience leading a team
- Advanced knowledge of purchasing, material management and/or supply chain.
- Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written) and presentation skills.
- Effective negotiating skills at mid-management level.
- Problem Solving, quantitative skills and decision making talent.
- Must be able to work across all functions and levels of an organization.
- Proven project management skills and demonstrable process implementation ability.
- Experience with ERP's
- Ability and desire to lead a team and be hands-on with day-to-day work
- Six Sigma certification(s) or APICS certification is a plus
