About This Role
The Applications Engineer will provide engineered and pre-engineered solutions, technical and project management support, and CAD/BIM design of Kidde fire suppression systems. This position reports directly to the Technical Services Manager, collaborating with the full spectrum of Kidde Fenwal leaders, including Customer Service, Engineering, Product Management, and Sales.
Key Responsibilities
Develop CAD/BIM drawings effectively representing electrical and mechanical requirements for the system(s).
Provides application and product support and engineered solutions to distributors and regional sales managers in a timely manner related to the technical questions received.
Prepares estimates using our estimation tools and other means through review of customer’s drawings, specifications, plans, and other customer related documents.
Support consulting engineers, and other technical personnel, to define the appropriate solution for an application
Creates AutoCAD/Revit drawings to include piping isometrics, P&IDs, general equipment diagrams, and flow calculations.
Reviews and comment on customer’s drawings and calculations.
Develop distributors and other customers knowledge on Kidde Fire System products through the supply of technical information
Monitors the status of projects to ensure design progress and documentation is submitted according to project schedule.
Reviews and verifies project documents for completeness, format, and compliance with customer requirements.
Must present and discuss current project status at weekly meetings.
Ability to acquire answers utilizing various channels to develop data necessary for various projects with and without direction.
Must be physically able to travel for occasionally supporting our distributors to perform pre-design site visits.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
5+ years of relevant fire protection technical experience
2+ years of experience with AutoCAD software
Preferred Qualifications
Nicet Level IV- Suppression Certified
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Must be fully capable of special hazard agent determination. Inert gas, halocarbons, dry/wet chemical and carbon dioxide. CO2 knowledge of total flood, deep seated, and local application design a must.
Revit is desirable.
Strong technical and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects or tasks concurrently
Previous experience with flow calculation software desirable
Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Projects, Power Point, etc) applications.
Knowledge of or ability to work with NFPA standards (specifically NFPA 12, 17, 17A, 72, 101, 2001, etc) is highly desirable.
Ability to work individually or within a team environment
