Shipping/Receiving/Warehouse Associate

External Description:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work from route sheets, shipping pick lists, verbal and written instructions from supervisor.
- Use U.P.S. Worldship software and related applications.
- Comprehend and utilize HAZMAT shipment procedures.
- Interpret and convey pertinent HAZMAT information to fellow employees as well as customers and freight forwarders.
- Prepare all documentation needed for shipment.
- Convert weights and dimensions to applicable units of measure (i.e. English to Metric).
- Prepare U.P.S./ FED-X/ D.H.L./Burlington Air/ Emery orders for shipment.
- Ensure dimensional shipment rules are applied as necessary to conform to carrier tariffs.
- Assist in training employees as directed
- Maintain security in warehouse and dock area.
- Maintain necessary records.
- Move materials as necessary in performance of duties.
- Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to supervisor.
- Maintain work area and equipment in clean, safe, and orderly conditions.
- Follow established company rules and regulations.
- Maintain quality standards.
- Perform other related duties as required or as directed.
REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Formal training in the handling of hazardous materials.
- Must be certified and/or willing to be certified in “D.O.T. Regulations”.
- Must understand basic computer functions within multiple applications.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed instructions and procedures.
- Ability to operate various motorized and electrically driven material handling equipment.
- Ability to adhere to challenging time constraints within team environment.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and movement of material (often in excess of 50 lbs.).
- Basic mathematical skills.
