About this role:

Carrier is seeking a highly motivated Sustainability/ESG professional to support the expansion of Carrier’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts. This position will support the development and implementation of the global ESG and sustainability strategic plan.


The ESG Analyst will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of ESG mandatory and voluntary reporting strategies, analyzing ESG data and trends and informing the ongoing development of the corporate ESG strategy. Key areas of responsibility include conducting research and benchmarking, analyzing, and correlating large datasets and collaborating cross-departmentally across a global team.

The ideal candidate understands the current ESG reporting and rating landscape and has worked with publicly traded companies on their ESG/Sustainability reports. S/he is comfortable in a high-performing, fast-paced environment. S/he will also be adept at multitasking and maintain a strong commitment to quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data analysis and interpretation: assist in collecting, managing, and interpreting data associated with relevant ESG metrics to track and understand ongoing performance, identify gaps and areas for improvement
  • Research and benchmarking: Tracking changes in ESG standards, ratings and rankings and Carrier’s performance relative to our industry and relevant global leaders.
  • Stakeholder questionaries: Support the submission of the company’s responses to customers ESG surveys as well as raters and rankers, including responding to the CDP climate change and water security, working with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts.
  • Annual Reporting: Support the development of the company’s ESG/Sustainability report annually to align with GRI, SASB and TCFD reporting frameworks. Support the materiality assessment process including ongoing updates to align with global best practice.
  • Content Development: Collaborate with subject matter experts, communications and marketing teams to support the development of strategic ESG communications products tailored to key stakeholders.
  • ESG Strategy: Support the company’s ESG strategy by tracking key performance indicators and goals for the company. Support additional ESG projects and teams as needed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, business, economics, engineering, or sustainability
  • 5 + years of experience with sustainability

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Background working directly in corporate ESG/sustainability or ESG consulting, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software
  • Understanding of ESG reporting standards (GRI, SASB, CDP, TCFD etc.) Experience with ESG ratings and rankings, such as MSCI and Sustainalytics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify and effectively communicate complex ESG concepts to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, global environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Understanding of business management systems (environmental, health and safety and enterprise risk)
  • Proficiency in all applicable software packages (Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite)
