About the position
We are seeking a Sr. Principal Engineer / Associate Director – PPM Management with responsibility for overseeing the Project Portfolio Management platform across Carrier Global Engineering. The role consists of driving deployment and adoption of robust, industry standard PPM tool, capabilities and practices to meet functionality, productivity and reporting requirements within cost constraints. Working closely with global engineering centers, Project Management groups, user groups, Product Management groups, and cross-functional teams in Procurement, Legal, Finance and Digital, as well as commercial vendors, the selected candidate will drive standardization and maturation of PPM tool adoption and usage. Success in this role will be determined by ability to achieve alignment and drive change across a global organization that has diverse and conflicting PPM requirements, maturity and discipline, towards a future state that is best-in-class, within schedule and budget constraints.
Responsibilities:
- Drive definition and adoption of project portfolio management best practices by working with vendor(s), industry experts, and internal stakeholders
- Create and execute robust change management across a global, matrixed organization to expedite adoption of the tool
- Develop and track metrics throughout the lifecycle of the tool from adoption through full scale use
- Manage a PPM platform and associated peripherals (e.g. APIs, modules, etc.) with global user base supporting all Carrier segments
- Define and align PPM strategy, and manage platform growth and costs
- Oversee support resources and ensure timely completion of sustaining activities
- Communicate status and results to all levels of Engineering Leadership regularly
- Support dynamic reporting needs of PPM data
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 5+ years experience administrating the Project and Portfolio Management platform with mid to large size global enterprise OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) organizations.
- 5+ years experience with industry best practices, commercial tools and platforms such as (but not limited to) Planisware, KeyedIn, Planview/Daptiv, or MS Project Plus, etc.
- 5+ years in developing and driving cross-organizational strategies related to Enterprise Business Processes and similar digital assets and driving change in a large global organization and interfacing effectively with internal customers, vendors, users and senior Leadership.
- 5+ years experience in developing cost-benefit analyses and value propositions.
- 5+ years managing projects overseeing globally distributed resources with minimal day to day supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA
- PMP Certification
- Excellent presentation skills to support communication with stakeholders and Executive Leadership
- Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle practices
Additional information:
- Ability to travel up to 25% (nationally and internationally)
