About this role

Kidde-Fenwal is recruiting for a Manager Supplier Quality & Development at our Ashland, MA location.   Lead a team of three supplier quality and incoming inspection professionals. Set objectives and guide the team on supplier qualification/certification, assessment, monitoring, escape management, and quality issue resolution processes. Manage the implementation of initiatives to improve supplier performance.

Be responsible for managing supplier quality, and development of operational plans and initiatives. Monitor overall supplier performance, and development as needed, issuing PPAPs, supplier monitoring, audits, managing supplier self-assessments, as well as management of SCARS issues.  Support the Carrier's Supplier Excellence Program to ensure healthy continuous improvement and sustainability amongst our key and critical suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Supplier Quality & Development operational plans and initiatives
  • Manage Incoming Inspection Lab
  • Have a direct impact on driving supplier qualification/certification, assessment, monitoring, escape management, and/or quality issue resolution processes
  • Lead implementation of supplier-specific quality initiative strategies
  • Responsible for Supplier Quality-related activities, i.e. raw material assessments, design of contracted manufactured items, and/or materials packaging; ensure that service providers and laboratories employ Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and that procurement practices meet or exceed requirements
  • Control processes or standards in support of the Carrier Supplier Gold program to ensure healthy continuous improvement and sustainability
  • Oversee processes to ensure that a supplier is capable to meet all requirements for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (UPPAP) acceptance

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree
  • 5 plus years of experience in direct support of procurement functions for supplier development, assessment or performance monitoring

Preferred Qualifications

Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:

  • BS degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Industrial Engineering
  • Design, evaluation, validation and manufacture of a variety of electro-mechanical, compressed gas and / or fluidic systems experience with fabrication or manufacturing of a variety of materials
  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) / Core Tools, SPC, 8D CAR processes
  • ASQ CQA, CQE certifications
  • ISO 9001, AS9100 or other quality system experience
  • JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle or other ERP software
  • English written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to provide technical information to management and project teams
  • Metrology practices applying national and international material and test standards utilized in supplier material assessment
  • Application of quality tools and methods, such as 8D, SPC, Cpk studies, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, DMAIC
