About this role

The Global Quality Organization has an opportunity for a strategic allrounder to be onsite in Indianapolis IN in the capacity of the Director Global Quality.

Duties will focus on promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the manufacturing sites. Mentor, coach and develop the operational quality staff as a high-performing team that adds value to the business. Drive year-over-year improvements in key operational quality metrics such as PPM, COPQ and supplier quality. Ensure efficient implementation of Carrier quality strategy and operational goals through the application of resource-, portfolio-, project- and risk management.

The Director Global Quality will travel up to 50% (international and domestic) to other sites to provide strategic guidance where and when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive a culture of quality excellence throughout the Carrier manufacturing base by building a strong quality foundation, relationships, and processes with the local teams based on quality fundamentals and in alignment with Cx initiatives
  • Lead and coach the Manufacturing site teams by providing constant, effective communication and timely feedback on improvement opportunities and resultant activities utilizing Gemba and structured cadence with local teams
  • Establish, benchmark, and implement quality systems and standards that meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders and promote a culture of quality excellence
  • Develop and deploy globally robust processes that increase visibility and focus on key productivity and quality KPI opportunities and reduce lead times for corrective action implementations
  • Effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as Operations, Cx, Quality, Robust Design, Product Management, and Engineering to ensure full alignment with the business
  • Monitoring and analysis of key operational quality metrics such as Warranty PPM, FPY, scrap, rework, and COPQ
  • Develop regional continuous improvement plans in support of regional goals and objectives and lead key initiatives in support of Cx long-range planning
  • Direct support of critical business needs when required

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 12+ years of experience in process engineering, operations, project management quality, quality management systems, or supplier quality management within manufacturing facilities
  • 5+ years of experience influencing others in a cross-functional matrix environment and/or people management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Science, or Engineering discipline
  • Carrier Excellence Associate (Cx) or experience with Lean Manufacturing
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification or Master Black Belt
  • Applying problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, RRCA, Red X, Shainin, etc. with clear results and accomplishments
  • Interface effectively on all levels within the company; and with outside organizations
  • Facilitate and coach to bring focus and efficiency to the team
  • Track record of highly developed leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, i.e., training/presentation, team building, and communication
  • English verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starting in multiple disciplines without direct supervision
