About the role:

The Associate Director, Residential Indoor Product Management is responsible for leading the strategic direction, roadmaps, new product development, portfolio lifecycle management, annual planning, and commercialization of residential gas and oil furnaces, boilers, fan coils, furnace coils, and geothermal. This role leads the strategic alignment of the indoor platform with the outdoor platform, indoor air quality, and controls platforms while working closely with sales, engineering, manufacturing, and sourcing to launch innovative products that meet regulations and customer needs.

The successful candidate will possess balanced knowledge of the technical aspects of the products, business, and marketing. Foundational skills for this role include project management, public speaking, the ability to work independently, and general business management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops strategic vision and product roadmaps for residential gas and oil furnaces, boilers, fan coils, furnace coils, and geothermal products by leveraging market research, competitive comparisons, and the voice of the customer to drive technology development for the next 5 + years, including next-generation fan coils, expansion of MCHX coils, technology sharing between the furnace and fan coil platforms and the technology strategy for next Res test procedure and energy conversation standard.
  • Product strategy and commercialization of platforms in compliance with upcoming refrigerant change.
  • Fosters cross-function integration with indoor products, controls, and indoor air quality platforms.
  • Researches, develops, and manages product modification projects from conception through launch.
  • Evaluates projects through financial feasibility studies, market research, and planning.
  • Responsible for sales, margin, and share targets for the AC, HP, and SPP products.
  • Responsible for developing a competitive pricing strategy for new product introductions.
  • Manages a cross-functional team of professionals through a gated product development process.
  • Clearly articulates product features and value at public speaking events such as distributor, dealer, sales, and recruitment meetings.
  • Differentiates and positions the products to ensure customer value and optimize business return.
  • Provide leadership and development to team of direct reports for continued growth of product management talent and capabilities.
  • Works cross-collaboratively with the regulatory team in guiding the direction of the next DOE RES test procedure and energy conversation standard
  • Monitor competition to identify Carrier advantages and gaps through 2023 and R-454B transitions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10 + years of experience in one of the following:  product management, quality, engineering, training, or continuous improvement 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business and/or Engineering.
  • Background or experience in HVAC engineering, quality &/or product management.
  • Passion for servicing customers. Ability to listen to customer needs and quickly act to solve their problems, provide quality solutions, and go above and beyond to exceed their expectations.

  • Understanding of HVAC product applications and marketplace dynamics.
  • Clear understanding of basic marketing principles
  • Previous experience working with engineering and business/sales is preferred
  • Advanced level skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
