External Description:
Carrier Corporation is looking for a highly motivated and results driven individual to join the Commercial Airside (AHU) New Product Development team. The successful candidate will work on design of new products and options to support the growth of the Commercial Airside business. As part of the AHU team s/he will work with other departments including Product Management, Manufacturing and other R&D teams to continually improve the quality of the product offering. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently on projects with minimal supervision and mentoring from a senior level engineer or manager.
General Responsibilities
- Develop and validate design concepts based on customer requirements
- Translate concepts into rules based parametric designs
- Participate in continuous improvement activities including standard work, Kaizen and VSM events;
Specific Responsibilities
- Work for Air Handler New Product Development Engineering team to author Engineering rules to drive product design
- Work with offshore design/drafting team to update and maintain drawings
- Update and maintain other engineering artifacts like workbooks and xPloder rules to support product design projects
- Work with 3D geometry and engineering rules to directly support manufacturing using sheet metal flats and bills of material to final forms and assemblies
- Work with manufacturing, supply chain and other stakeholders on prototype and pilot builds and support the plant on production orders if/as required
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 2-3 years of experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Sheet metal, mechanical and electrical design knowledge/experience
- HVAC engineering/design/manufacturing knowledge/experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of PTC’s Pro/Engineer (Creo) and WindChill applications
- Working knowledge of Agile methodology for product development
- Working knowledge of Java, JavaScript, XML, VBA
- Familiarity with SAP
- Familiarity with MES
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities
- Able to identify and develop continuous improvement projects to influence and drive change
- Ability to communicate professionally in written and verbal format across a wide audience
- Ambitious self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced design environment
