We are seeking a highly skilled and relationship-oriented HVAC Unit Build Mechanic to join our Commercial Engineering team in Syracuse, NY. As a crucial member of the team, you will be responsible for building, modifying, installing Commercial HVAC units. This role requires exceptional technical expertise in HVAC systems, a talent for building strong relationships, and the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:
Build, modify, install, and test HVAC units for psychrometric testing, with guidance from senior mechanics.
Install thermocouples and other sensors in test units to ensure accurate data collection.
Collaborate with engineers and lab technicians to replace components in rooftop HVAC units.
Fabricate, modify, and install ductwork to support testing requirements.
Safely dismantle old units and sort materials for recycling purposes.
Work closely with engineering and product teams to ensure product/market fit.
Adapt systems and practices to changes in customer requirements efficiently.
Prioritize and deliver high-quality products while maintaining on-time delivery.
Proactively identify areas for process improvement and implement enhancements in the lab.
Assist in implementing and developing lab objectives and initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
2+ years of experience in the HVAC Industry
Ability to obtain EPA 608 Universal Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical/Business School Certificate or Diploma, Skilled Trades Apprenticeship, or similar post-high school training (two years duration)
2+ years of experience in the Commercial HVAC servicing industry
Proficient knowledge of HVAC systems at the component level
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately
Basic understanding of electrical wiring
Proficiency in installing delicate test instrumentation
Experience in charging and evacuating refrigerant from units
Expertise in brazing and cutting copper tubing
Competence in operating power and hand tools
Familiarity with operating a forklift and an overhead crane
Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Strong commitment to safety and the ability to promote a safety-first mentality
Adherence to all EH&S guidelines and proactive identification of areas for improvement
Maintaining a clean and organized work environment
