About this role

Our Indianapolis team is recruiting for a Field Engineer - Automation Field Services that understands the principles that comprise a Building Control system and possess the ability to learn how to functionally bring system problems to a satisfactory resolution. Key Responsibilities

  • Start up, commission, re-commission customer Building Automation Systems
  • Provides solutions to complex systems problems i.e. troubleshooting the system or advising others on how to resolve problems.
  • Works with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation
  • Be able to provide turnkey project delivery on medium to large projects
  • Complete required commissioning documentation and reports
  • Responsible for total system operation i.e. controllers to sensors, loading software, interfacing with third party systems, sets up trends, alarms & reports and work with customer IT employees
  • Performs mid-level static (stand-alone) commissioning of software programming
  • Performs site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system
  • Set up of operator workstations with all associated software
  • Communicates with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Tracks and records job progress and keeps customer informed on progress. Reviews customer’s systems, points out areas of improvement and scope issues to project manager. Keep project management apprised of customer concerns and issues
  • Maintain a daily log of all pertinent job-related activities
  • Adheres to safety standards

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 year plus experience in the HVAC controls industry
  • Valid and current Driver’s License, insurable by the company’s insurance carrier
  • Travel 75% plus in a typical workweek i.e. unexpected travel and participate in rotating on call schedule
  • Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment in excess of 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs

Preferred Qualifications

Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:

  • Associate Degree, or Technical School
  • Background in mechanical and HVAC system operation and design
  • Understanding of systems software to read, test and make changes to logic as needed
  • Able to create, download, and troubleshoot basic HVAC system logic using WebCTRL and associated software
  • Working knowledge with all WebCTRL software functions and utilities 
  • TCP/IP networks including wireless technology, including layout and troubleshooting
  • Organized with good time management skills
  • Communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Read and understand Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical blueprints.
  • Microsoft software products to include: Outlook, Word, Excel, and other Windows products
  • Working knowledge of Automated Logic hardware and software
  • Understanding of the operation and control of mechanical equipment and their control sequences
  • Computer and networking skills, and experience in the commissioning of Ethernet and ARC Net communications
