About The Role:

Our Disruptive Climate Solutions team is evolving to maintain Carrier’s leadership in the market through investments in advanced research, technologies and methods that will shape the future of our products and services. As part of this transformation, we are hiring and empowering an experienced Senior Design Engineer to help us innovate and pursue sustainable solutions for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops, designs, and validates novel HVAC systems.
  • Identifies solutions to improve system and component-level performance.
  • Uses design software packages to develop models and drawings of new concepts and products.
  • Designs and implements common procedures and standard work across the organization to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Develops data and makes layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal.
  • Maintains existing engineering records and designs.
  • Assesses design issues or risks.
  • Supervises the manufacturing process of all designs.
  • Reviews completed layouts and drawings to ensure clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
  • Communicates with the other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and ensure project completion.
  • Designs and reviews layouts of components calculates stack-up of detail components, and performs major cost studies consisting of new details and/or marked prints and all supporting documentation, when necessary, to facilitate operations and ensure that established objectives and budgets are achieved.
  • Resolves design problems of difficult-to-complex scope to ensure project completion.
  • Designs new products and processes, and improves and maintains existing products to help create better products or processes and ensure that the current and future needs of the business are met.
  • Provides technical leadership and when required, assists in training less experienced engineers to help them diagnose and solve problems and build capabilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical engineering or a similar engineering/engineering technology field with 4+ years of experience with material or mechanical system design, testing, modeling, and simulation

OR

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical engineering or a similar engineering/engineering technology field with 2+ years of experience with material or mechanical system design, testing, modeling, and simulation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical engineering or a similar engineering/engineering technology field
  • Knowledge of HVAC&R systems and cycle analysis
  • Knowledge of Materials
  • Proficient in PTC Creo or similar CAD software
  • Proficiency in CAE tools for design evaluations
  • Demonstrated expertise in prototype validation through testing and model-based simulation
  • Excellent understanding of measurement uncertainty and design of experiments
