Det-Tronics is looking for an experienced, process-driven, results-oriented, high-performing Quality Engineer to champion process improvement through Carrier’s continuous improvement framework called ‘Carrier Excellence’. Works as an individual contributor and leader to achieve objectives that have a significant impact on area of responsibility. Lead and manage improvements in Quality Engineering processes and/or projects. Uses experience and knowledge to influence the development, modification, application, and maintenance, or quality evaluation, control systems, and protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Quality Programs and Process Improvement projects for Det-Tronics products and cross-functional business processes related to product enhancement and efficiency improvements. Owns and drives multiple complex projects
  • Lead and Facilitates FPY improvement projects, COPQ reduction and process improvement project. Uses tools such as DIVE, VDIVE, Fishbone, 5Whys, Poka Yoke, 8Ds, FMEA, DoE, SPC and DMAIC to help resolve issues
  • Validates that issues are resolved through process audits
  • Monitor, analyze and present key operational quality metrics such as DPPM and costs.
  • Collaborate with Test Engineers to drive testing improvements
  • Support Continuous Improvement activities throughout the organization
  • Analyze, solve, and control production quality problems on time to meet the customer requirements

Main Goals and Objectives

  • Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement
  • Mentor, coach and educate operations, manufacturing engineers, test engineers to achieve a “Zero Escape” mindset reduce turnback’s
  • Drive year over year improvement in FPY, Scrap and process

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering discipline
  • 5+ years in a Product Quality and Project/Program Management role

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree is preferred
  • Manufacturing assembly and Electrical test experience is a plus
  • Six Sigma or Lean/Continuous Improvement experience.  Formal certification preferred
  • Capability to work in a self-directed cross-functional manner while demonstrating project leadership, communication, and organizational abilities to deliver project results for business unit commitments. Project Management certificate is a plus
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with senior management and work across all levels of the organization
  • Assertive and confident with a strong point of view while able to understand/empathize and support other perspectives. Intent on building trusting and collaborative partnerships/relationships
  • Presentation and communication acumen with audiences of varying group sizes, technical skill levels and levels of business responsibilities
  • Electrical or Electronics product manufacturing company experience is a plus
  • Experience with APQP management and implementation
  • Experience with and application of ISO and AIAG standards preferred
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the company as well as outside organizations as needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Organizational and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to pull data from assorted sources and synthesis in both graphic and verbal forms
  • Proficient skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, SharePoint, Teams)
