This position is for a Senior Quality Inspection Technician who works under general supervision. Performs basic to moderately complex in-process, final bench and product feature inspections. Prepares technical reports, inspection and test plans, and data. May assist in orienting, training, and assigning work of technical/business support employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works under general supervision to assist with testing, troubleshooting, and assessing incoming (customer return) products for quality and functionality issues
  • Performs basic to moderately complex in-process repairs and testing to incoming (customer return) product
  • Performs basic to moderately complex conformity inspections and basic Failure Analysis.
  • Prepares technical reports, graphs and charts related to customer quality and warranty for communication purpose
  • Follows inspection and test plans, standards, acceptance criteria, and procedures/work instructions

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED and 1+ years of experience in trouble-shooting electronics circuitry

OR

  • Associate Degree in Electronics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience working with the test, calibration and/or repair of electronic assemblies or devices
  • BS in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent four-year technology degree. 
  • Perform functional testing, calibration, and repair of assemblies and sub-assemblies submitted to the department.  Ability to train others to perform these duties
  • Verify that the assemblies and sub-assemblies are tested and calibrated to the latest engineering specifications by using the latest revision test procedures, schematics, and assembly prints.
  • Demonstrated ability to take the initiative to create or edit technical processes to assist with the testing and trouble shooting of various technical devices
  • Proven Troubleshooting skills demonstrating the ability to repair defective assemblies or sub-assemblies down to the component level and perform the rework in a fashion that complies with current quality standards
  • Demonstrate the ability to accurately generate and maintain data of assemblies and sub-assemblies that have been repaired to maintain and improve our current assembly and repair processes and product quality
  • Must demonstrate the ability to collect and analyze data for the purpose of identifying improvement opportunities, root causes and verification of corrective actions taken to eliminate reasons for PCB, assembly, or product failure.  Ability to conduct experimentation to identify or test corrective actions to root causes of subassembly or product failures
  • Demonstrated ability using problem solving tools to identify root causes of repetitive or time-consuming failures and measure the effectiveness of corrective actions to reduce or eliminate those failures
  • Perform the loading and monitoring of the product run-in areas
  • Assist Production Engineering with the design, assembly, and repair of new and existing test fixtures.  Identify and specify fixtures that can improve trouble shooting capability and work with Manufacturing Test Engineer to design and build such fixtures
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of new and existing test procedures.  Maintain all department procedures in LOS (Lean Office System) database
  • Provide technical support to other areas, often under pressure, to help meet production and shipment schedules.  Proactively assure all production lines in the areas assigned are running without problems with test equipment or first pass failures
  • Ability to assist manufacturing engineering with the execution of experiments using analytical software (Excel, Minitab).  Ability to design, execute and analyze basic experiments and then document the results
  • Perform other duties as assigned
