About this role
Become part of a team growing a SaaS offering and expanding connectivity with Internet of Things (IoT) devices and data for customers in an established business in the transportation industry. The API Solutions Engineer will play a key role in working with sales and technical teams, and external partners to facilitate API integrations to support customer requests for provision of data to and from other platforms. The API Solutions Engineer will translate functional requests from customers and partners into technical user stories for developers to work on. This role includes focus on continuing process improvement, training & support to internal team members and channel partners, and planning for product/service enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead customer onboarding activities, including:
- Providing API overview & Demos
- Guiding users through common API use-cases
- Onboarding new user accounts
- Work closely with the Business Product Owners to understand the short and medium term strategy for the business
- Work closely with Lynx Fleet IoT platform architects and development teams
- Work with the Lynx Fleet Product Owner in shaping the API product roadmap
- Interact with multiple information systems and other analysts to ensure data integrity and consistency across platforms.
- API lifecycle release management, including:
- Perform functional and regression testing of API updates
- Develop and publish data dictionaries in OpenAPI specifications and deploy to API portal
- Monitor API usage
- Communicate API updates to customers
- Partner with IT support team to help troubleshoot when users encounter an issue
- Become a subject matter expert in the user website portal, including troubleshooting, identification and recommendation for enhancements, and provision of training to others as needed.
- Interact with channel partners and fleet customers to understand preferences and requirements for connectivity to third-party systems and solutions, including transportation management systems, yard management systems, trailer asset systems, and tractor/truck in-cab solutions.
- Interact with personnel from external third-party vendors and partners, including definition of joint project scope, commercial agreements, and oversight of execution and testing.
- Maintain list and description of third-party connectivity requests and implementations
Basic Qualifications
- BS or BA degree.
- 3+ years of experience with direct work experience in IT and/or software project or product management, services or IT administration or management.
- 1+ years of experience working with APIs and/or other integration solutions with external partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- IT certifications or education preferred.
- Experience with REST APIs, including Open API specifications and JSON data design
- Knowledge of HTTP and SOAP Protocols
- Experience with API testing tools, such as Postman
- Experience with API Portal technologies, such as Apigee, Azure API Management, or AWS API Gateway
- Experience with querying data in Azure SQL, AWS TimeStream, AWS S3, AWS DynamoDB
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including fluency with XLOOKUP and Pivot Tables is preferred.
- Experience working with business partners and collaborating on solutions to benefit both companies is required.
- Enthusiasm toward and ability to solve problems.
- Experience in the transportation, trucking, automotive, and/or cellular industries is strongly preferred.
- Experience interacting with functional teams in IT, Finance, Operations, Services, Software Development, and Product Management is preferred.
- Experience interacting with customers to understand their needs and help solve their problems
This role has a preferred office location in Athens, GA, but can be performed with a high percentage of remote work.
Remote candidates will need to travel to Athens, Georgia occasionally. Overall travel requirements for this role are 10% or less.
