About this role
The Heat Transfer Group, part of Carrier’s Advanced Technologies (CAT) organization, is seeking a motivated, results-oriented college student to join our team for the Spring of 2024. The Carrier internship experience offers interns an environment that provides practical, challenging, and meaningful on-the-job work experience and the opportunity to apply knowledge and demonstrate strengths in efforts to assist Carrier in achieving its business strategy. You will learn and apply skills in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics, including both single-phase and two-phase flows. You will grow professionally to become knowledgeable on heat transfer and system requirements for HVAC&R equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Support laboratory test rigs to characterize the performance of enhanced heat transfer surfaces and components.
Apply engineering software such as MATLAB and EES to perform data reduction and heat transfer analysis.
Develop heat transfer and pressure drop correlations that accurately describe the performance of heat transfer surfaces over a wide range of single-phase, condensing, and evaporating conditions.
Apply advanced simulation tools to assess system-level impacts of new heat transfer components.
Required Qualifications
Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields
3.0 or higher GPA
Preferred Qualifications
Thermodynamics, Fluids, and Heat Transfer coursework or previous internships
Self-driven and proactive
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
Team player and willing to collaborate with others on projects
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Preference is being given to the candidate from Syracuse University. This internship is a partnership between Syracuse University and their career center.
