Seasoned Drafting Services / Product Definition professional, leading a team of mechanical designers in development of Carrier's next generation of Water and Air-cooled Chillers. As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a team of mechanical designers in development of Carrier's next generation of Water and Air-cooled Chillers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the overall design process for commercial air and water-cooled chillers projects.
- Provide daily direction for designers/detailers and contract designers/detailers.
- Lead and direct offshore design/drafting resources work assignments.
- Oversee design resource allocation to support project schedules.
- Ensure designs meet both industry and Carrier design standards
- Interfaces with manufacturing to ensure designs met the manufacturing process requirements.
- Oversee ECS/MCS (Engineering/Manufacturing Check Samples) for all the design aspects.
- Responsible for several components of a project or a complex component of a larger project
- Responsible for the quality and accuracy of work and performance in meeting schedules
- Contributes to the team or department by applying knowledge of one or more of the functional areas
- Fully developed professional able to work without direction or guidance from others.
Required Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Engineering and 7+ years of experience in a commercial manufacturing environment
OR
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 4+ years of experience in a commercial manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven and tested in a design leadership role or capacity
- Experience using Pro/Engineer/CREO 4 or higher and Windchill PLM
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP and Bill of Material systems
- Assembles documentation packages and produces drawing sets which are checked by an engineer or an architect.
- Calculates weights, volumes, and stress factors and their implications for technical aspects of designs.
- Locates files relating to specified design project in database library, loads program into computer, and records completed job data.
- Develops detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, controls and simple subassembly parts, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
- Change Management Systems (ECR / ECN)
- ANSI Y.14 knowledge
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities
- Proven significant contribution to their team by applying their knowledge of sound designs and documentation.
- Has a solid understanding of the fundamentals of the discipline and role—continuing to develop specialized knowledge
- Strong working knowledge of the products, engineering documentation system, and the ability to work within an engineering design team.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing fabrication and assembly methods
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with factory
- Previous relevant job history experience in new product design, especially HVAC product design and/or product sustaining
- Experience with complex 3D parametric components
- Experience with sheet metal and piping design and manufacturing processes
- Some exposure to electro-mechanical control systems and components
