About this role

Fireye, located in Derry, NH, seeks an energetic, enthusiastic, and fast-paced Sr. Hardware Design Engineer. The incumbent will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing Hardware products from concept to completion for various projects with inputs from Marketing and the Director of Engineering. Individual also has the responsibility as the Technical Project Leader for assigned projects meeting all goals for cost, quality, reliability, and schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development and specification of new product HW/SW platform architectures
  • Develop detailed design specifications
  • Lead and participate in design reviews
  • Develop schematics for and specify printed circuit board layouts for new designs
  • Balance high quality, low cost, and fast time-to-market during the development of products
  • Be an expert in the use of HW tools: Oscilloscopes, DVMs, signal generators/analyzers, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, LabView, for development/debug
  • Good debugging skills for both HW/FW
  • Develop schematics using DxDesigner
  • Simulate, breadboard, prototype HW/SW designs
  • Bring up new designs, perform signal integrity analysis
  • Specify and perform design verification tests
  • Thoroughly document designs
  • Design to ensure agency approval, platform re-use, testability, manufacturability
  • Obtain product approvals (safety, EMC)
  • Develop firmware for diagnostic/board bring-up/DVT tests
  • Perform root-cause analysis on failed product

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years of hardware engineering with working knowledge in electronic design and development.
  • Due to contractual agreements, must be a US citizen, green card holder, or permanent resident .

We Value:

  • Experience with Safety Integrity Level (SIL) design a plus
  • Experience with DSPs a plus
  • Experience developing low-level debug firmware is desired
  • Experience in hands-on, board-level, analog, and mixed-signal circuit design
  • Experience gaining regulatory approvals for products, especially UL, FM, CE
  • Experience performing FMEA and MTBF analysis
  • Experience with "fail-safe" design
  • Experience testing, debugging, and characterizing PCB designs, sub-systems and system as well
  • Experience with EMI reduction techniques, modeling, and electrical simulation

Physical Limitations:

The employee is periodically required to perform repetitive movements

The employee may occasionally be required to visit field installations at factories and commercial establishments

Occasionally required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials

The employee is occasionally required to reach overhead with hands and arms; rotate body from sitting and standing position and lift and carry weight up to 30 lbs

A normal amount of sitting and standing, average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct a normal amount of work on a computer

The employee is regularly required to walk and move around; use of hands to feel, touch, grasp, or grip tools, objects, or handles
