About this role 

Carrier has an opening for an experienced Computer Scientist or Software Engineer to serve as a vital member of the eDesign team. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining software-based tools to design and optimize the energy efficiency of HVAC systems for commercial buildings. eDesign tools are used by thousands of engineering firms worldwide in their business. This position is based in Syracuse, NY.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Developing desktop application software for HVAC system design and energy modeling.

  • Analyzing software requirements and designing software solutions.

  • Coding to implement solutions.

  • Working collaboratively with other developers for planning, design & code review, test planning, etc..

  • Performing unit and system testing.

  • Participating in the Agile development process.

  • Participating in team project meetings.

  • Evaluating and identifying new libraries, tools, and technologies for use by the software development team, as needed.

Required Qualifications 

  • Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

  • 3.0 or higher GPA  

  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Proficiency with C# and .Net

  • Understanding of object-oriented design and analysis (OOD and OOA)

  • Technology experience including Microsoft Visual Studio, SQL, XML, JSON, WPF, and XAML.

  • Demonstrated experience working on independent, self-motivated tasks, with excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with software development principles and processes

  • Excellent verbal, writing, and presentation communication skills.
