About This Role
NORESCO is seeking a Senior Project Manager to develop and execute major projects within our Codes and Standards team. Applicants should have proven expertise and skills specific to the building industry, advanced technical writing skills, and the ability to prepare and coordinate a variety of staff to produce top quality client deliverables. Aptitude for and experience with project management and client management is required. You will execute project activities that are technical and detail-oriented, lead other contributing team members, prepare statements of work, maintain client relationships and manage and deliver projects within the Existing Buildings Policy service offering.
As a member of NORESCO’s Codes and Standards team, you will have broad impact on building energy and green codes in the U.S, including in leading states such as California, Massachusetts, and New York, as well as on national energy codes. This team includes engaged and talented individuals, possessing diverse and specialized skills covering a wide range of capabilities within energy and green building policy. The position will leverage existing client relationships providing you with limitless opportunities for growth and having an impact shaping the future of building decarbonization in the U.S.
The person selected to fill this position will have working knowledge of building design, construction and permit processes for new and existing buildings, code development and adoption processes, low-carbon technologies and strategies for market transformation. They will be called upon to coordinate and represent NORESCO in workshops and presentations related to client projects and will likely engage in presentations and panels to showcase project work.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop project approaches and statements of work or RFP responses to facilitate building decarbonization for existing buildings in the U.S..
- Connect with clients, other project partners, subcontractors and team staff to manage and deliver project activities.
- Foster innovations in project delivery to meet client needs and maximize impact on their building decarbonization goals.
- In addition to supporting team members in task completion, self-perform technical work including working with local and state jurisdictions to develop and adopt existing building policy and provide guidance and analysis for local energy code implementation.
- Provide support for compliance with existing building policies, including but not limited to training, tools, outreach, resources and technical assistance.
- Communicate with others on the team regarding current workload, project updates, potential obstacles, opportunities for innovation, and specific project deadlines on contracted work.
- Independently manage key clients, removing their obstacles and helping them achieve decarbonization goals.
- Occasional (5-10%) business travel.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years’ experience in building industry
- Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Title 24, ASHRAE Standard 90.1, IECC, and other energy codes and standards.
- Expertise in building systems including architectural, envelope, mechanical, electrical, controls, water, and/or special systems.
- Understanding of key building decarbonization strategies and systems, including high performance building envelopes, heat pumps, and heat pump water heaters.
- Demonstrated ability to write technical reports, papers, and provide presentations to knowledgeable audiences.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Established industry network.
